No, no. Wasps perform valuable functions. If you stay calm, they generally leave you alone.

Digitizing in a snap reflective glory
That will forever tell our imaged story.

Another nice landscape of the Halifax Health medical center. I'm pretty satisfied that the 40mm Voigtlander Nokton S.C. Classic is a heck of a good walk-around lens.

If there's a spider in my bedroom and it's not a big, hairy one, I'll let it live and just go to sleep. If it's a big, hairy one, I will try to catch it in a small box. If I succeed, I will release it outside. The only 3 living creatures that should really be eradicated are wasps, ticks and mosquitoes. :p

But wasps eat mosquitoes!

Not the ones over here. They are aggressive bastards that have stung me multiple times without reason. Bees on the other hand are the gentle ones that mean no harm unless threatened.

Lol I actually have to kill wasps nests in my yard pretty regularly. The nests can get out of hand if you don't deal with them early. They're constantly building nests in my kids playground in the backyard. My oldest was stung 8 times when he was playing near a nest in one day, and was pretty traumatized by the experience.

You know. So far, I'm not getting that overwhelming warm-fuzzy from the A7R2 AF. Some lenses work well. Some don't...Seems like there was a bit of hype there. So I'm once again, debating on what my next move is...

Speaking of...David A...Did you return that 5DS? Still looking to sell it?

Sony A7RII and a bunch of lenses.

Yes! As of about 30 minutes ago my 5DS R order was processed! It is getting shipped today, and now I need to put the 5DS up for sale. I am actually working on photographing different stuff I am planning to sell.

And speaking of the a7R II, I still have plenty of warm and fuzzy about it, but I am also feeling an even stronger tug towards adding some lenses. One in particular: I can't stop thinking about the 100-400L II. SO, I am starting to think that I might just stick with my a7R as a second camera OR sell it and buy an a7 II.

after the dust settles a bit, I dont think AF will be a priority for me (getting too caught up in hype and forgetting why I love the A7 series camera), save my long lens, which is very hard to MF. Pretty happy with my landscape kit, which is down to only 3 lenses, in which 1/3 is a sure thing (70-400). The other 1/3 I'm still trying to decide which to keep, the canon 24-105 or zony 24-70, like the canon for its range, zony for its size. The last 1/3..... dont really know if I can avoid the 11-24.... will give voigtlander an honest workout, the rok 14 is very good, however 11mm is significantly wider.

David, I'm very interested in hearing your thoughts on the 5DS R once you've had a chance to use it. Right now I'm on the fence on which body to get, the A7RII or the 5DS R. I primarily shoot landscapes and I'm sure either is a great choice...so just one more opinion would be great in deciding on what direction I go.

For me, when compared to the a7r "Classic", the a7r II is leaps and bounds better in terms of AF, both with native lenses and 3rd party. I've never owned an a7II so I can't comment on that comparison. To me, the a7rII has put all the best features of the a7 series cameras that came before it into one package and improved on some of those features as well. I don't shoot much video but when I do, it will be nice to have the option to shoot in 4K with no additional hardware. That resolution works great for online videos and even improves the clarity of HD when downsampled to 1080p resolution. AF works great shooting video using native lenses and the a7rII even lets you customize how quickly focus shifts from one subject to another.

Don't forget, this camera has only been out for two days so it may be a bit premature to pass judgement on how well everything works. We are, or at least I am still learning our/my way around the new settings, etc.

Todd, the Dynamic range advantage is huge. 5DS DR is just like the 5D3 according to www.

Any of you guys here use strobes for portrait work? Trying to get a recommendation for an entry level strobe but no joy yet. Question is unanswered in the lighting forum

I don't know if you already have strobes or not Eddie but if so, they'll probably work fine on the a7rII in manual mode. If you don't have a flash set up yet and your looking for something reasonable, I just ordered the Nissin Di700A Flash Kit with Air 1 Commander for Sony Cameras. This is a flash + a wireless transmitter that can be mounted on the camera hotshoe to fire the flash wirelessly. This set up utilizes the full Sony feature set including TTL and HSS.

Thanks Gene. Sorry I should have been more clear. I currently have a speedlight (yongnuo) that I used on my A7R so im assuming it will work on my A7RII however im looking to pick up a strobe and was wondering if anyone could recommend me an entry level one . Off topic for this thread but thought I would ask you guys anyway as got zero responses in the lighting forum. After watching Miguel Quiles' (Ten Ounce) video in the batis 85 thread where he was shooting dramatic portraits with a single strobe on his A7II I really want to give it a go. Ive got this idea inmy head of shooting a dramatic portrait of everyone in my extended family as a sort of snapshot in time of everyone.
