My Tamron 150-600mm Af had too many hiccups so MF there, both Sigma art 35/50 work great like native lens. So far I'm very happy with the a7rII, it was never my intention to replace my Canon system just compliment it.

Hehe, that sounds a lot like me. :p

My general rule of thumb is: don't hurt animals unless they put you in danger/hurt you. However, for mosquitoes and ticks I'll gladly make an exception. :-P

Reminds me of a few years ago when I was outside and went back inside. When I opened the door, I wanted to scratch the back of my head with my right hand. Just before touching my head, I feel this sharp pain and burning sensation. I look at my right hand and notice that a wasp has stung me and the little bastard is still attached to me because his stinger was still inserted in my middle finger. In all my anger, I performed the following steps:

- I removed the wasp and his stinger from my middle finger.
- I let the wasp know how it feels to be impaled i.e. I used a toothpick to impale his lower body (aka returning the favor).
- I removed the toothpick and took some macro shots since he was pretty stationary at this point.
- After photographing him, it was time for him to experience a burning sensation, just like I did i.e. I burned him down until he was fully black (aka returning the favor).
- Finally: I placed his dead body on the doorstep for a few days, so his cousins would know what would happen to them if they tried to mess with me.

This may sound cruel to some folks, but if wasps don't hurt me, I don't hurt them. Yet, they always try to stalk me (and running away from them doesn't help) and are often aggressive towards me.

Note to self: never cross jocau ;)

'The 135 F2 is a really old lens from the 90's. According to metabones, only lenses from 2006 going forward will work.'
Yes I lived that last night. Win some loose some, but the Tamron 24-70 did fine.
Now I hope Metabones is wrong about the 2006 date, the 400mm 5.6 arrives today from Lensrental. I bet that lens is even older in tech and design than the 135 F2. I'll know soon enough how it plays adapted to the new Sony.

Question, BIF shots with 400mm 5.6 how would the 5-axis IBS work (panning).

Peteg help please.
I just confirmed again the Tamron 24-70 acts like a native BUT
my Sigma 35 1.4 Art won't do anything on the A7Rii-not even allow
a shutter release.
Settings?

I don't know whats going on there, 35 art used all AF modes like a native.

What a puzzle.
The 35mm Art + MBiv + A7Rii when I press shutter the LCD goes black!
It recovers but will not take the picture!
Of note only AF-S and AF-C available.
When I set the 35 Art on manual it still will not work.
To make sure the 35 Art is OK I put it on the 6D and it works perfectly.
Clues anyone??

That's one lens I don't have. Did you try the switch for contrast detection yet for the 135?

The Phase detection works like a charm with MBIV and Sigma 120-300 Sport. AF is very quick. It's obvious that the Meike battery grip will have to stay on the a7RII full time--juice flows rapidly.

No I haven't yet Charlie but I will.
A bit saddened about the 35 Art but is what it is.
Note last night doing a timelapse (fail, fog never lifted) that this new beast eats batteries. Sony should have
given 4 of them.
Very good news on your Sigma Sport.
I'll try on the 150-600mm Tam after my nap.

+1, I'm thinking the A7rii would be a long term camera worthy the thin stack mod.

I wished it had GPS though, but I can live without that info. Seriously, I dreamt of in body IS, and had some heated exchanges on this forum about it. Auto ISO with manual, minimum shutter in AV. It's like every feature I've wished for and then some, has come together. It won't be the best camera in every category, but the jack of all trades, and a dam good one.

Pretty happy with my gear at this point, looking for more opportunities to shoot.

I won't shoot any event till November/December, and have this a72 loaner for events, so that curbs the gear lust somewhat. I had really nice results my last outing, and I think the a72 + ze100 will shine at the OC fair...

I'm loving it right now.

I probably have as much Canon glass as most here, and my A7RII is suppose to arrive Tuesday, but my 2cents is that everyone that has ordered this camera should expect to purchase a few key native lenses to get all the benefits of this camera or they are only going to be frustrated. I shoot weddings and sports with my 5D3, 5DSR, 7D2 and I do not think that is going to change. My mental approach to the A7RII is that it is the first mirrorless camera that I want to begin to try - and I want to try it the way it is suppose to be tried - using native glass to exploit all the focusing attributes that it offers - otherwise I think it is going to be an exercise in frustration. I will say that adapting Canon glass was a factor in my decision to purchase the camera but I have very specific Canon lenses that I wanted to see if I could use more - otherwise I was going to sell them. Those lenses for me are the 50L, 85L and 135L. It is now pretty clear the 135L isn't going to work but that is ok for me as I also use this lens for indoor sports and I use very fast shutter speeds and I want the Canon level of AF tracking that this Sony does not have. The 50L and 85L however are such unique lenses that I would like to start using them more and the A7RII's IBIS, high megapixels and with good high ISO I'm hoping it allows these lenses to re-enter my work flow - otherwise I will likely see them. If I can get tack sharp, handheld, 40 megapixel images at F1.4-F2 at 1/60th with IBIS I will be extremely happy (that is not possible with the 5DSR) - other than that, I will be slowly investing in a few Sony native lenses - and I will wait until they bring more along.

With this in mind, and given that from a 4K video perspective it was clearly designed with Super35 crop mode in mind for clean output, the first native Sony lens I am going to add is the 16-35 F4 - great for video and wide angle landscapes where the Sony clearly shines. The other lens that I am currently considering is the 28F2 for a light walk about setup but I haven't made a final decision yet - if Sony had a world class 24-70 native F2.8 IS lens (like the just announced Nikon), I would just buy that lens and be done with it.

Those are my thoughts.

When my camera arrives I plan on doing some 5DSR vs A7RII tests and will post up the results - specifically how well the IBIS works with non IS primes compared to the very high SS required with the 5DSR.

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.
