I also believe, that we won't see a7rII anytime soon... a9r with 70mp (like some rumors were claiming) in range of 5000-5500 is more likely.

mystik610 Cream of the Crop More info | Apr 28, 2017 14:38 | #32524 Sony may indeed release an a9r, but the segment that the a7 competes in is a arguably a more important segment as this where a much larger bulk of FF sales are happening. Cameras like the a9, 1DXII, and d5 are special purpose halo type products, and are not really priced to sell in the volumes that the likes of the a7 and 5D cameras do. The a9 will not sell as well as the a7 cameras for the same reason you don’t see many of us here pre-ordering an a9, whereas there were 10-15 of us in this thread who had pre-ordered the a7rII. It’s priced outside of most people’s price range and the feature-set is very specialized. Based on how cameras are currently priced, $4,000 seem the be the psychological price barrier. If Sony is indeed serious about being a major player in the camera realm, it needs to have competitive products across the entire spectrum of the market….and Sony’s competitive advantage is their ability to release products that are on the forefront of the technological curve at each given segment. focalpointsphoto.com

I am interested in messing with some macro stuff ( never owned a macro lens) for photos and I think it could occasionally come in handy for video maybe I like that its 2.8 atleast .. and at 90mm it should be decent for portraits ,, no spectacular bokeh like 1.8 or 1.4 .. but that's the compromise I suppose. anyway.. maybe its just that no one here is really into macro photos?

Yeah, many seem to be assuming that a9 will also have an R and S versions. But if Sony follows the CaNikon formula, the a9 will stand on it's own. There's no 1DXR or 1DXC, there's just the 1DX. However they go, I do hope some of the improvements will make their way to the R / S versions. Dual slots and the joystick, specifically - BP -

I have the 90 Macro, and have actually been thinking about putting it up for sale. It's spectacularly sharp, but I rarely ever use it. My Batis 85 is usually my go-to for portraits nowadays, so the 90 just sits on the shelf. If you're looking for a lightly used copy, give me a shout. - BP -

There actually is a 1DxC - called the 1DC - it has the same pixel density at 18 megapixels (as the Mark 1 1Dx) - and shot 4k years before anything else - you can still buy it for $4k. It wouldn't surprise me if Canon re-releases a new version - the 1DC Mark II with the upcoming Olympics. Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.

Apr 28, 2017 21:30 | #32533 Here is a simple technique to correcting white balance in an image. I use it for astrophotography but hadn't thought about using it for all my images. I first heard about this from Ian Norman from lonely speck but here Blake shares the technique. - Alfredo -
