Really want to see how the BSI sensor helps out. I'm interested in this too. I've been keeping an eye out for some astro shots but seen nothing yet Leica M11 | Leica Q2 | Sony α7RV

I need this camera as it simply is the best thing that happened to mirrorless since inteoduction of the A7 & A7R. Good that i have no pressure, so i will eventually get one off the bay in a few months when David A. Is going to sell his because he likes the 5DS more ![]() MedicineMan4040 wrote in post #17661748 DF 'David A. Is going to sell his because he likes the 5DS more' I predict the opposite. Mr. Arbogast loves (my observation) the most advanced/cutting edge...soon enough he'll realize he's got a huge sensor from olden days .Seriously David Arbo, get the Rii !!! See the difference. I'll buy you a beer (or sugar-free tea) when we finally meet just to hear you say in person it was a choice of old-timey but huge sensor (5Ds/r) or the most consumate all-in-one camera ever made. Well after a long talk with my wife I did finally conclude that, yes, I plan to order up an a7R II. My wife is a great sounding board - I'll frequently discuss different ideas with her, which helps me sort things out better. David | Flickr

Aug 09, 2015 05:03 | #3292 Well....next year I am starting to shoot weddings. If there is an A7iii by then, I may have to forgo the Canon 6D as a backup camera (I love my 5D mk III too much I am afraid!). If the A7iii has a near 5DmkIII like focus speed then you never know...I may even say goodbye to Canon all together. #jcovellphoto

One area where the a7R II may come up short is in the long exposure department. David | Flickr

But do you really play with a gamut that much in your general LE shots? I mean we can only see around 7bit colour anyway! The palette for 12 is still humongous and will only start to band when you are doing some pretty extreme PP work (usually indicating a **** up). #jcovellphoto

The a7rII has some pretty big advantages over the 5DIII and is a better camera overall. My 5DIII is going up for sale soon! focalpointsphoto.com

Aug 09, 2015 08:33 | #3299 Shoot! I was hoping this new body would have improved LE shooting. I will keep on eye out for more reviews in the topic. I hope it is not as bad as claimed. David Arbogast wrote in post #17661802 I still think the 5DS R is still going to be an immensely valuable tool in my kit - even though the a7R II runs circles around it in several areas. One area where the a7R II may come up short is in the long exposure department. http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1380165 Snapsy is knowledgeable about the performance of various cameras, and he's thinking that the a7R II may be yet another poor performer in LE shooting. So, that's a bit of a disappointment, and tells me that I'll be using the 5DS R for LE work. OTOH, it is still really early. We may see some better reviews/studies on the a7R II in LE. Even so, I am not wild about the fact that using LR noise reduction limits the raw output to 12-bit images. - Alfredo -
