That would be pretty sweet...and would be on the pre-order worthy list for me...

I think I've come up with an idea for my second body that makes a lot more sense for me than the a9...

a6500 + MC-11 + Sigma 24-35 F2. On the a6500, this would be the equivalent FOV, DOF, and noise to a FF 35-50mm f2.8 ,which sounds limiting, but would be a useful focal range for documentary photography, particularly when my main cam will be the a7rII, which I can use to cover the 70-200 range if I need reach. I can also flip roles and use the 24-35 on the a7rII if I find that I'm primarily shooting wide, and use the a6500 + 85GM (135 f2 equivalent) as a back-up to shoot long.

Realistically the a6500 does a lot of what the a9 does (12 fps, high density tracking AF, big buffer, zero blackout EVF), at 1/3 of the price....the big difference of course is the crop factor, which is where glass like the 24-35 F2 bridges the gap. The times I do need high burst rates and really good tracking is basically outdoors in good light, so the sensor size disparity isn't much of an issue given the intended uses.

Any thoughts from the a6500 guys? The big clincher of course is how well that 24-35 F2 works via the MC-11. In my limited use inside a poorly lit camera store, it seemed to be adequate, but I'll need to rent one to try it out.

the a6500 is not blackout free.

also its 11fps, not 12.

vmad just ordered the FE 35 1.4 last night!! Ah well, it could be a while before the sigma comes out but may have to switch down the line if it's smaller and as good as their art lens

35mm was my preferred focal length when shooting with Canon. Lets see what the price is going to be on this one.

I have only shot that FL a little bit, and like it...50mm was always my go to, but sometimes I find it just a bit too long, so 35 seems like it would be a great fit.

Hobby camera...

plan was/is to sell

Sony A6300
Canon EOS 7D Mark II
Sony E 10-18mm f/4 OSS
Sony E 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 PZ OSS
Samyang AF 14 / 2.8 FE
Sigma 30mm f/2.8 DN Art
Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM

to cover most of the cost.

I want it for fast AF, blackout free, af joystick, will use it for birding, race tracks.

I'm not having doubts about the camera capability, just spending this much, will I get "return on my investment"

a9r would be nice, but that potential 5500+ price tag sounds scary

yah for that i will just wait for the A7RII. the only major complain that i have with the RII is the sloppy writing and you cannot even use the fastest cards.

blackout free is nice, and a9 af seems much much better as well.

If I end up with a9, I really hope there won't be a7riii till 2018 at least.

And me...that is very intriguing and may be worth waiting for.
