I don't think those things are ridiculous at all if they work...I love the round catch light they can produce...if I shot studio stuff at all, I would build a big one.

Oh yeah it looks like it works well. Like many things we do in the field, it will look ridiculous, but if the final result is good, then its worth it. I've been curious about this thing for a while.

RX1RII eye focus.

My daughter's face after getting splashed by a dolphin. I'm still getting used to the emotions of little girls.

Light looks good given that it doesn't look like there are any surfaces to bounce off of.

Have you seen the roundflash? It looks ridiculous but could be handy in those situations where you need a large on camera modifier b/c you have no walls to bounce off of:

https://www.roundflash.com/roundflash_ring (external link)

the GF is like an omni light. yah nowhere to bounce but it still throw a kiss of light that's why i was at ISO1600.

yah i don't like ridiculous looking diffuser/bounce. everybody will look at you. There was one that i bought before, i think it was called the winglight. it looks ridiculous most people are staring at me at the church when i shoot the kids communion. lol

also I don't like the catchlights produce by the ring light.

That helios has some cool bokeh.

How well does the 200 f1.8 work with the a7II?

Anyone here using/tried the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 DC DN? Any inputs on this lens? Thanks

I use it on my a6500. Sharp, shares lens. AF is just a tad loud in video and just a hair slower than native glass. I'm definitely getting more missed shots of my very active kids than I did with my older 24mm f/1.8. But if your subjects aren't fast running 4/2 yr olds, it's a great lens for the price. Definitely sharper in the center and equally good when stopped down to f/4 or so in the corners.

Quick shot that i took while camping last weekend. I didn't really like it, but edited it anyhow.

so, I was gonna start a thread but wanted to ask here first

Is there a megathread for everyone to find each other's Instagram to show some love and support for each other?

Would this be something people are interested?

I personally love following nothing but photographers

oh side note,

When should I use like electronic front curtain?
I'm trying to learn all these settings and wondering if certain settings can lower Image quality or mess with the autofocus system

Everything slower than 1/1000 shutter. After that it affects bokeh
