Shadows seem a bit dark to me on the 1st image but that's probably just a matter of personal taste. Otherwise, both shots are very nice.

I've splattered this one around the forums but would like to share it here as well. Had a rare heavy rain last evening. Very short storm shower. Wanted to capture the motion and dynamic nature of the scene. I like the outcome.

It's a shame you're moving from SATX before finding that $3000 in silver coins from my 3rd great grandfather that Jose Salinas hid in the walls of the San Jose Mission. ;-)a

For those who don't know, here's the story:

Of course, there's a lot of places to look for those sacks of silver within the walls of the mission.

Wait, there's actually a bag of silver still hidden in this mission?

That's how the story goes. And it's 'bags' of silver. $3000 worth was carried by pack mules. Here's a link to a brief biography of James Hodges Sr, James Jr. and John S. (my 2nd great grandfather) from Texas A & M University that tells that story. You'll see mention of it at the end of James Hodges Jr.'s bio.

If you happen to find the silver, be sure and contact me so I can let you know where to send my percentage.

Perhaps you already know where the treasure is. You yourself said it was hidden well.

Perhaps in a well? :)

He, he. I wish I did know. The "hidden well" was from another bio that I copy/pasted so those aren't my words. :-)

Really nice lighting and exposure with great colors! Nice job!

Thanks! I actually screwed up the camera settings if you look at the EXIF. Bumped the minimum shutter speed to 'high speed'...but it looks fine at medium ISO.

Thanks Gene. I pushed the contrast in post to give it a grittier aesthetic...which crushed the shadows a bit.

I usually use TTL outdoors and manual I doors. TTL does underexpose the flash exposure....I usually set the FEC of the key light one or two stops higher than the camera EC(i.e if camera has a -2 EC to preserve ambient highlights, I use a -1 or 0 FEC). The flash exposure always looks way brighter on the read LCD than what you see on the computer in post.

I did my brother's engagement this weekend, and the IQ coming from the FE 85 vs 135L..... FE85 is clearly next level, making me itch for the sigma again.......
