AF continuous with wide setting and face detection on, it will focus on the eye. And fast. Don't sell your 85 L II. Just keep in mind that it is through a mirror and getting my lashes under my baggy eyelids is next to impossible. Image hosted by forum (741174) © advaitin [SHARE LINK] THIS IS A LOW QUALITY PREVIEW. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.

Might come in handy now with the R2 but I'm holding out on Sony producing a native e-mount 400mm F4 which would suit me better. flickr

Aug 09, 2015 22:48 | #3381 navydoc wrote in post #17662593 This is probably old hat to everyone...and totally off topic I suppose...but I just tested the free "Play Memories Mobile" app on my Galaxy s5 and the "Smart Remote Embedded" feature on the a7rII to control the camera by my smart phone. While it's very basic, what I liked...and just tested is that I can set the camera up next to my hummingbird feeder, aim it and switch to "movie" mode and go back in the house. There, while sitting at my desk, I can view the scene shown in live view on the cameras LCD on my phone's screen. If I see a hummingbird land for example, I could then press the "record" button and video the hummingbird as he is feeding. I'm sure there are lots of other uses but I thought this was pretty cool to view the camera's LCD on my phone and control the camera from this distance. Here is a screenshot showing my feeder as seen through the camera using my FE 55 at f6.3...who needs a long lens? hah! ![]() Very nice. Never occured to me to try movie mode on the A7II along with the app. KayakPhotos wrote in post #17662845 shot of the sunset. Same camera with FD 24mm f/2.8 ![]() Lovely. I do love the FD 24/2.8. A fantastic landscape prime on the A7 series. KayakPhotos wrote in post #17662860 This is with the Sony 70-400G. I have the first generation. ![]() Great capture! So, how's the 70-400G AF on the A7RII? Sony A7RII and a bunch of lenses.

MedicineMan4040 The Magic Johnson of Cameras More info | Aug 09, 2015 22:54 | #3382 Beautiful hummer. I too tried the 100-400ii on the Rii...like the 400DOii and the 300 2.8 IS II it is fast withing a certain focal plain, move out of it and it requires focus assist.....but then my 150-600mm Tamron needs some foc.assist from time to time to even after the firmware up date. flickr

To me the lower shot looked warmer and had more contrast and that was before I realised what shot was taken with what lens. I really like the character of the FE 55 and the way it renders the out of focus areas. Below are two shots I love of my son, both taken on the A7R at f/1.8 ![]() ![]() I'm with you. Sharpness, contrast and saturation can be done in post. i need AF for my family portrait gigs, especially small kids. the FE/55 + the Batis 85 will be my ultimate portrait lens in th enear future. | SONY A7SIII(2) | A73 | A6000 | Sony A7IV | Sigma105 | FE1635F4 | Tamron 70-180mm F2.8 | Tamron 17-28 Tamron 28-75 | FE50F1.8 | Sony 16035F4PZ | SEL30mm F3.5 Macro | Canon 24mm TSE | Laowa 15mm Shift
