Forgive me, I never flocked before, how does one go about it please?

I have never done it either but basically you cover all the internals of your adaptor with flock paper (think of the furry stuff on the inside of lens hoods). I bought this material here - http://www.firstlightoptics.com …pe-flocking-material.html (external link) - and plan on just cutting it to shape to cover all the shiny plastic bits on the inside of the adaptor. Heres an image I found online of somebodys metabones that they flocked - http://starvingphotographer.com …ads/2014/02/Figure-13.jpg (external link)

A7RII Owners, I saw this method on FM forums for saving power and completely turning off the Monitor (as opposed to just deactivating it which still uses power). Go to gear menu 4 and select "Finder/Monitor". Change it from auto to "Monitor (Manual)". Now go to Gear menu 7 and select "Custom key settings". Finally assign a button (I used C4) to "Finder/Monitor Sel.".

Now your monitor will be active. Press the C4 (or whatever button you chose) and it changes to EVF completely switching off the Monitor. The beauty of it is the EVF only activates with the eye sensor so when the sensor is not activated the monitor and the EVF are both off. If you want to use the monitor again its just a quick press of C4 and vice versa. Not sure if this works on previous bodies but saves having to use the stupid deactivate monitor feature which still has the monitor powered up

Neat trick, but I don't really understand the purpose. If the EVF is activated only by the sensor still, then it'll always be on if the camera is resting on your body anyway, and when it's off it'll be away from your body which the only reason I can think it would be is if you're shooting using the LCD.

get some flock paper from edmunds optics, cut, and fit on the adapter. It's self adhesive and fairly easy to do. Just imagine lining the interior of your adapter with tape, just some trial and error will do.

that's a good point! I think it would work good for those who primarily don't use a strap. I use a wrist strap and hold the camera by the grip whilst walking about. Im hoping the sensor doesn't detect in that scenario. Now that you have brought that to my attention though I might just revert back to switching the power on and off :)

Thanks. At a shutter speed of 1/8th, there is a very slight motion blur.

but maybe the EVF consume less power, don't you think? just curious. i also use PD Capture Pro and there wrist strap.

Usually the biggest use of power on electronic devices is the backlight on the LCD screens. So this is probably true...although it may be possible the processors in mirror-less (as they are always being used to "live update") mean the difference is not quite a good as the saving by keeping the LCD off on a DSLR.

No, it's a higher resolution screen and it's brighter, if anything I'd wager that it uses more power. Besides, my point was that using his mentioned method the EVF would be on while the camera was hanging on a strap.

Yes, but as I said above, the EVF is also a backlit display.

I know without a doubt that the EVF on my X-E1 used more battery than the LCD screen did, I would be surprised if the a7 was any different.
