Gene- noted. I've got one listed at FM. Did you put it up on FM as well? I've sold
lots there over the last several months.

Thanks. No, I haven't listed it on FM yet but plan to.

i wannnnnna buy something haha, who ships to canada

I don't know why more people dont ship to canada It's so easy. Paypal basically fills out half the form for you and you can ship from home. The post office even provides the plastic holder you need for the forms. They'll even deliver them for free.

The cost isn't that bad either. Priority under 7 days is only $25 for the last couple of lenses I've sent there.

First class is cheaper but I don't like that service since the tracking is virtually non existent and of course Paypal requires a working tracking number.

I've had some good experiences and some bad, usps seems kinda hit and miss,if the sender puts a value on the item i have been charged duties on private items before and thats a piss off, other times item comes quick and all is good, very hit and miss.ive never used pay pal, when i buy stuff i send a email money transfer thats instant, cost me a buck maybe cost be receiver 0.

Pardon my random comment, but I continue to marvel at the color output from my a7R II. Funny thing, but in all the lead-up to the a7R II color was never mentioned in all the hype of IBIS, BSI, 42MP, etc. It is so doggone appealing to me that has had me contemplating selling my 5DS R. Heck, I've been thinking about selling the 5DS R and doing something crazy-cool, like buy a drone or something.

How did you lose it? Fly it too far? My thought is I essentially just want an up-to-400' tall tripod in the sky and don't want to do a lot of adventurous flying with it.

Looking at Inspire (very expensive) and 3DR Solo, but yeah, this is a far riskier thought and I'm not likely to move past the wishful thinking stage on this.

I'm so-so on colors from Sony.
I find that it does tend to produce slightly unnatural skin tones at times. And Sony's auto white balance can be hit and miss sometimes.
I found my 6D to be far more predictable in terms of colors.
Not to say the Sony's an issue. It's fine 90% of the time. It's just that "being predictable" thing. I do think Sony is not 100% just yet.

Sony A7RII and a bunch of lenses.

I'm with David, love the colors, coming from the green monster aka A7r1.

High ISO is so much cleaner, color retention is great.

I'm tempted to buy a Pentax 135mm F2.5. Anyone tried that lens?

Are all M42 mount screw on?

Vinz, I am thinking about getting that lens as well. Here are some things I've learned in my research.

- in the earlier Takumar lenses there are several versions. They changed to an 8 aperture blade design (instead of a 6). When you're looking at the lenses on eBay, the version you want will have a 35 next to the infinity symbol on the distance scale. The older version has a 30 next to infinity. The newer k mount versions all have 8 aperture blades, but are rarer and more expensive.

Got a question about mirrorless and MFA with sigma lenses in particular.

I get that since there is no mirror and the AF is done on sensor it removes the front and back focus issues and the need to MFA the lens to the body.

However what I dont get is how that fully solves the issue. The sigma dock allows you to tweak the focus at 4 different focus distances. So if for example your ART lens is at the wrong setting at 3 of the 4 distances will using it on a mirrorless camera mean that it is perfect at any focus distance? Does the internal calibration of the lens become irrelevant and if so how come?

Also can you not still get front back focus with PDAF focus? Or is this not an issue on sony as its hybrid focus?

So if for example your ART lens is at the wrong setting at 3 of the 4 distances will using it on a mirrorless camera mean that it is perfect at any focus distance? Does the internal calibration of the lens become irrelevant and if so how come?

I wouldn't make any adjustments to the lens via the dock if using a mirrorless camera. MFA is a DSLR problem, and the Sigma dock only exists because in camera MFA doesn't account for the fact that subject distance impacts the AF algorithm.

Basically, when hit the AF button, the lens transmits distance info to the camera, and the camera says move the focus ring by X because this is where the the beams of light converge on AF sensor. The problem is that at a subject distance of 10 feet, the PDAF sensor may see that X is in focus, but the sensor actually see this value as X-1. So we input an MFA bias of +1 into the body, which tells the lens to focus by X+1. The limitation here is that a subject distance of 10 feet might require a +1 bias, a subject distance of 20 feet might require a +2 bias.

Sigma builds into the lens the ability to introduce a bias to the lens to account for this. The Sigma dock allows you to input a bias of +1 at 10 feet, and +2 into the lens, so if the camera says focus by X, the lens will move +1 at 10 feet, and +2 feet. Since the baseline MF value is perfect with a mirroless camera , there's no need to introduce a bias on the lens side.
