Living through all of your A7x's for a while. Mine is packed for the trip and will stay packed until we get there.
At first I wasn't going to take it, thinking only the 7Dii. But after thinking about the ISO performance and the weight/size of the Nissin and the Rii and 70-400g2 will be my walk around for the little jungle walks around the lodges. The 7Dii will be used in the blinds with the big flash and bracket but I hope to pit the two cameras against each other 7Dii flashed and the Rii not.

Quick ebay bidding question....

If the opening bid for example is $250 and you bid for $300 and you win, you're the only bidder, you will pay $250 only, right?

Is there also a chance that the seller has another account and he will outbid anyone if they don't like the numbers?

i don't think so,i think if u bid 300 u pay 300,i haven't done eBay in a long time but i was sure thats how it goes,if the bid was 250 and u bid 251 u would get it,as mentioned i am sure there are people that drive up their own prices, just like at auctions i believe theres owners that raise the price of their own stuff.wait till one minute before auction closes and bid 251 see if u get it

They changed the method. So if you put $300 it won't bid $300 unless others have put they're own bid up to $299.

If you bid $300, but someone had $350, it will tell you that you've been outbid and the current bid well increase.

Interesting, I didn't realize they had changed it that way... so basically now it's very similar to the "Best Offer" function?

Thanks for the feedback, Gene. My next lens purchase is definitely a 35mm. Just got to figure out which.
Currently in consideration:

- CV 35/1.7: MF, small, exhibits some field curvature, expensive, renders nicely, sharp, nice bokeh.
- Sigma ART 35/1.4: AF, big, heavy, lower cost, very sharp, renders nicely, bokeh can be nervous (from what I read).
- SY 35/1.4: MF, big, cheap, sharp, nice bokeh.
- FE 35/2.8: native, AF, expensive for what it is, slower aperture, renders nicely, middle of the road bokeh, eye AF.
- Canon EF 35/1.4II: Too expensive and big. Not being considered for now.
- Sony/Zeiss: FE 35/1.4: Expensive, fast, big and heavy, renders nicely, nice bokeh.

The list above demonstrates how each lens is a compromise in one area to address another. I can't make up my mind which direction to go in. LOL.

Best available 35mm lens on the market: RX1R II. It even comes with its own 42MP camera.

BTW, This is seriously another sell-my-5DS R-and-get-something-very-different thought. A drone sounds incredibly cool, but Robert made a great point about the risk and I have had that nagging feeling about the FAA beginning to slam the door shut on all the drone fun soon (with more strict regulations). Previously I had mentioned that I've been drawn to the idea of a wee little p&s (e.g. rx100 iv), but the rx1r ii is also a teeny camera that may have the most optimized image quality of any camera/lens on the market. Thinking about it. :)

I learned just today that the RX1R II has a leaf shutter. That means a flash will sync at any speed the shutter is capable of, which I believe is 1/4000th max.

More drone news. My astro mentor Mo just lost a drone, nice version 3 Phantom-not like mine with a fly-away into the boonies but a sudden rapid acceleration and dive 400 feet away (i.e. line of sight) and 400 feet up straight into the ground. Mo is super experienced pilot. Conditions were calm, clear, etc. Only thing good was the drone crashed into a soft moist (don't ask how moist) cow field. Still the gimbal was severed and the front element of the lens cracked. Drone still flies! but not consistent. Best guess is software flaw......

That said Poof is actually the one who lost my drone. I'd entertain another but only after looking into insurance policies for loss...with a nice camera it adds up.

On the RX1Rii I hate thinking that much sensor with that little lens....always. Obviously I can see that sensor with interchangeable lenses. Just my opion.
Now the RX100iv, now that is one to have! I have the RX100iii and it is still a great machine though outdated. It was the first Sony for me that could be powered and not just charged via the USB and I thought that was ground breaking.

Unfortunately it's not that simple as having a leaf shutter, they cause other problems when shooting past 1/500 you can read about it here

I found this out the hard way when using my RB67 that has leaf shuttered lenses.

Sigma 24mm 2.8, manual lens converted to Sony FE.

My favorite wide angle, unfortunately will have to sell it and maybe even the A7. Was a victim on a scam and lost money. Not a good way to start the day. If anyone is interested PM me before it goes on the FS block.

That sucks man. What kinda scam? If you don't mind me asking.

Anyone misses Brittney?

Why yes. Yes I do.

Always more Britney!

^if that doesn't sell 1000 FE90s I don't know what will.
Vin you should send that one to Sony Corp and become a Sony Diplomat.
I love the way the bokeh behind matches/blends with her skin tone.

Totally. Brittney definitely helped sell me an FE 90!

I'm not paying another $3000+ right now. :)
Having said that, I REALLY enjoyed my time with the Fuji X100t. 23mm, leaf shutter. Same idea. Only 16MP, but definitely a ton of fun. I'd get one again one these days.

Yup. Same with the Fuji. Which made for some interesting possibilities.

Sony A7RII and a bunch of lenses.

With regards to ebay its always been that if the starting bid is $250 and you bid $300 you get it for $250 if no one else bids. Nothing has changed. I have been using ebay for about 10 years regularly and its always been this way.

I agree the rx1r ii seems nuts at first consideration. It's essentially a $3K 35mm lens. But, so is my Otus 55mm, and putting it into a tiny little camera would make it incredibly fun to use, yet producing the highest quality images from any 35mm lens (since the lens and sensor were custom designed to work together). I do love the idea of the rx100 iv and am definitely thinking about it, but the zoom lens is not remotely in the same league as the rx1 and the same is true of the teeny-weeny sensor.

I'm not saying the rx1r ii totally makes sense, but when I consider my wanting for a 35mm lens AND desire for a tiny go-anywhere pocketable camera, it certainly begins to appeal to me.

Haha...I posted that initially just as a joke, but the more I thought about it it started to make sense to me somehow. ;)

I am afraid the leaf shutter coolness would likely be lost on me. I sold all my speedlites because I have no studio space any more. Sticking with natural light shooting.

The rx1rii really gets my GAS going too but its simply too expensive for me. If it was £1000 it would still be expensive but I could possibly swing it but at £2500 its just not going to happen. Maybe pick one up in about 3 years time :)

Always wanted an x100 series camera. I've been watching the prices of the x100t falling and falling. One day it will get to the point it will be hard not to pick it up. I really wanted my a7rii yo be my take everywhere camera (which it pretty much is) by I still find myself wanting a smaller, fixed lens option added into the mix
