Annie it is perfectly OK to own a Sony and Cannon :)
Considering the mountains you hike (in your backyard) I'd look at the A6000, it's replacement should be out any month
now and the A6000 will become very affordable.
You are spot on about the A7x family here at POTN, they rarely tear me apart, unlike the 7Dii thread!
The problem for me in this thread is that all the other posters have the knowledge and I'm just trying to sponge it up :)

Haha. It's true, down here you are smart to watch every step in the bush and anywhere you intend to put you hand.
At home all the vipers are on the ground-no so here. There is worse than the Eyelash, finely found a Fer de Lance too :)

Nice Dean!

Charlie, what's the belt system you use? I've often thought about the camera on a sling strap and a second lens in a belt pouch but never actually got one

I have a few belt setups. A heavy duty lowepro utility belt, the full sized version, and a cheapo Home depot Husky 2" construction belt, which I honestly favor 10:1, due to the size and compactness. In fact, I brought it on travel, and anything else is overkill, the Husky belt is very solid. http://www.homedepot.com …k-Belt-HD335320/202311429 (external link)

photo of the belt and some setup: https://photography-on-the.net …showthread.php?p=17536324

I've changed my setup slightly and do often since it's modular. On my last outing, had 5 lenses, 2 bodies, water bottle, and filters setup. I was a little overpacked, but the belt can easily handle the load.

Great shots Dean/Charlie. That 35 Ultron looks fantastic.

I couldn't wait to test out my new gimbal so as soon as I mounted it on the camera (the batteries were already in the gimbal), I took a little walk with it from my place to my neighbors.

My 1st impressions are I was very impressed with how stable the video was, especially for my 1st try, that the wide setting may have been too much so I"ll try medium next and finally, I need some practice to learn how to make the camera turn when I want it to.

Scroll down to the 3rd video. I promise to shoot and share something more interesting in the future...thanks for being patient with me. :-)

Nice...more, more, more! Is there an option in Vegas to de-fish the wide setting? It's the only thing I don't love.

Thanks David. I think because I was so close to the walls, it really magnified the fisheye effect and going to a medium wide angle field of view should help. Apparently there is a way to 'de-fish' using Sony Vegas Pro. Here's a link to a tutorial with ver 13 but the "Sony Deform" effect is probably in earlier versions as well. Obviously I haven't tried this technique yet. ;-)a

- been testing it out on the 70-200 F2.8II - definitely better
- 100-400L II is also better, maybe a tad bit slower, but it is more sure of itself and hits every time (not a BIF lens on the 7Rii)
- 135 is great as usual (Face detect seems to be working very well)

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.

Thanks Gene and Wallstreet.

Unrelated question. Anyone considering a 4K TV? I love OLED but I may wait a few years for LG to progress and for other companies to adopt the technology. That leaves me holding off on 4K right now and getting a large 1080p display for my living room. Good idea or just go ahead and bite the bullet on 4K?

New GAS acquisitions

Picked up the 8mm Rokinon in canon mount.

Am looking at a 85/2 Jupiter 9 if seller responds its mine.

Still need to figure something out for the 400 range. Old manual under 150 bucks or may save and try to find a A mount 70-400 v1 around 1k.

My mate just got a 52" 4K ultra HD curved TV and put it up in his kitchen. Whilst the picture quality is superb on 4K content (it comes with a demo disc to play) I still wouldnt pay the money for it. It was about £2500 ($3800 US roughly). My 1080p HD TV was £300 and the picture is brilliant in that too. Not 4K good but also not £2500!. Sky TV is the largest broadcaster in the UK and im not even sure if anything is in 4K yet. I dont see the point personally.

Ive noticed that my viltrox adaptor has a bit of rotation once attached i.e. I can hold it and it will turn in my hands a few mm. Is this the case with all adaptors? (I assume the metabones would be a better fit). Im worried that it could cause a loss in IQ if it was in the wrong position

Sorry me again, My Samyang 14 arrived today. I owned this lens previously but had it in my head it was much bigger. Even adapted to my A7RII it isnt actually that big feeling to the point where I feel I could actually carry it about instead of it being resigned to my landscape bag. Time will tell though. Just trying to check if its decentered at the moment whilst I have the chance to send back.

Me neither. I got myself a new tv a few month ago. 48" samsung 6 series i think. Just 1080p but to be honest, if you play things in full hd it is great at a normal viewing distance. Sound is okay and the colors, frame interpolation and everything its just a steal at about 600$! Really love it, and i mean, practically nobody gives us channels in 4K, some even still have hd (not full hd) and as long as 4k is not really established i think a good quality full hd tv at todays prices are hard to beat.
