Anyone here use a Drobo for their storage? I am quickly running out of space on my internal drives and have decided to decommission my NAS (too slow over Wifi) and replace it with attached external storage. I have the drives, so I'm looking for the enclosure. Lots of cheapo USB 3 enclosures on Amazon, but most with an iffy track record according to reviews.

To raw or not to raw, that is the question https://photography-on-the.net …/showthread.php?t=1441129

I'm running out of space as well, might just delete all my raw snapshots and keep only the jpegs. Keep raws only for nice keepers. Another option for you would be to wire up your house? Not sure how possible, but I run ethernet on my systems, wifi just isnt good enough when I stream to different rooms.

Again. The evidence is there for plenty of pics all over the internet/Flickr/POTN for FF landscape shots WITH foreground objects and a pretty deep DOF.

I don't mean to be contrary here, but I'm not really making anything up that's not proven by a few hundreds of thousands of landscape pics including some serious professional work hanging in galleries, etc...

No one has ever complained that FF doesn't provide enough DOF to do landscape. Sorry.

What do you think about the two examples that I specifically posted to show what I can no longer acheive with full frame?
If there are 1000s of successful landscape photos taken with full frame, surely it must be easy to find a similar composition with objects equally close to the lense with focus all the way to infinity. I've posted some real life examples to state my case, but I dont see any in return.

Urrrgh. Are you dexter75 in disguise? Look if you prefer crop to full frame then good on you. Why come here and argue about it?

Yeah that...Carry on with whatever works best for you.
I'm just saying I find it odd that one guy has an issue shooting certain landscapes with FF when I've seen thousands of photos that work just fine.

Charlie,

I have zero interest in re-wiring the house. Wifi works fine for everything else we do (streaming, Netflix, iPads, etc).
I'm the only one in the house with large bandwidth demands, so I have my Hackintosh directly on Ethernet. Same with the NAS.
But file transfers over the wire are still slower than going via USB3 or Thunderbolt. So after having my NAS basically sit around unused (except for backups) for the past year, I have decided to turn it off and repurpose the 8TB it was using into some kind of RAID external drive that's on Thunderbolt or USB 3.
The Hackintosh already has 4TB worth of drives directly in it via SATAIII (1TB of which is an SSD). But that's getting full quickly thanks to the A7RII.
I'm also considering ditching the Hackintosh and getting a Macbook Pro for the portability, in which case having fast external storage becomes even more important.

No need to post examples to prove your point. The idea that a FF would have significantly less DOF than an APS-C at an equivalent FOV makes absolutely no sense.
