hahahaha i know right? my FE90 will stay for sure for those little kids and macro stuff... but for the adults, man i'm still bokeh crazy. But what really impresses me with the SY135 is, it's sharper than the 135L and almost no CA. and with the 9 rounded aperture blades, it's sure has better bokeh than the Pentax... it's just more expensive. Plus I was helping my wife who keep asking what gift do I want for my birthday... I was being nice to her. lol

jocau just shutup....hahahaha :) :p lol on top of that, you know most of us has GAS addiction...

The aperture blades only effect the bokeh of you're shooting stopped down, my guess is that you usually won't be ;)

I spent some time yesterday playing around with portraiture at the park. While I feel pretty happy with my portrait work in a headshot or head/shoulders kinda frame, I find I struggle more with full body shots like the one you just posted.
This particular one is very nicely framed. What kind of processing did you do to the background, if you don't mind me asking?
My problem seems to be that when I frame the entire body down to the feet, like your shot here, the surroundings seem to get a lot more in the way, composition ally speaking.

raw was dull so i just improved the contrast using curves. doing so in curves with the blending mode of normal will saturate the color automatically. If you just want only the luminosity or contrast to be affected and none on the color, change the blending mode to luminosity.

when i did the background, I isolated the subject using refine edge. Since refine edge will automatically creates mask, i then tweak the color of the skin tone a bit using curves but only affecting the subject this time by creating a clipping mask so that only the layer directly below the adjustment layer will be affected.

The reason why i acquired a 200mm is that the 90mm FL will not give you as much bokah for a full body shot. i think the 200mm FL also was what caused a better compression on the background and got other surrounding stuff off the way.

I hope I explained it well. I'm pretty bad in explaining that's why for stuff i'm not familiar, i shut off my mouth. lol

I wish I could find my 135mm I know I have one but I can't seem to find it.

I ordered a second off ebay and a week later the seller still won't ship. That's the problem with ebay, save a few bucks but have to deal with the crappiest sellers.
I'm sticking to buying on the forum.

Nicely done Vinz.

This neon cocktail sign is what casts the blue light in my bar images. The light bar beneath the shelf casts the warm light. There are two shelves, both with light bars. This image doesn't look so dark on my Flickr page because of the dark background.

I'll chime in here.

You shoot some really nice landscapes Nadim...the trick to environmental portraiture is think of it like framing a portrait within a landscape.....so frame your environment first. Pick the focal length that brings the right environmental elements into the frame. Then place your subject in the frame.

Vinz did a phenomenal job with that shot, and you can see that if you took the subject out of the frame and stopped the lens down, it'd make a nice landscape as well.

If you have a generic or distracting background, then use a longer lens to compress the background...but when it works, I prefer wider focal lengths for environmental portraiture as you can tell a nice story with the interaction between the landscape/backgrouund and your subejct.

Thats a bit of a sweeping generalisation. Ive been using ebay since 2003 and only had a handful of bad experiences out of over 1000 transactions and most were early on before I learned my lesson. You just have to do your bit by checking out the person you are buying from using the feedback system. Its easy to spot a dodgy seller IMO.

Well, I can't help that I have a memory like an elephant (at least that's what my English teacher told me more than 10 years ago). :p I'm pretty good at keeping my GAS under control. That's because I listen to my brain most of the time. I admit I also want that Samyang 135mm F/2, but I haven't switched to Sony yet, so I'd rather not buy any new lenses right now.
