does this mean the new a72 and a7r2 can shoot a jpeg profile and raw at the same time? the first series does not and that really bugs me,i would like to shoot raw and contrast mono tone for for the jpeg. i transfer the jpeg to to my phone once in awhile and text the pics to friends and such,my oly can shoot raw and jpeg profile so i hope the newer sony can do this.
i am still waiting for a screaming deal on a a72. no luck this boxing day,the prices were the same as before christmas and they are still the same.

I had assumed all of them could shoot raw + jpeg. Not something I've checked though. The lcd image when reviewing is a jpeg even when shooting raw only as far as I know (as the lcd can't display raw data)

Thanks for the input.

It's almost like the water [In a different shot] was all murky & drab [with maybe a slight magenta cast too] & it was hard work to get it looking half decent.

The image on the A7 LCD was perfect!!

I think I know who to seek to be my tour guide when I visit that fair city. :-) Beautiful images Alfredo.

I didn't realize you lived here previously. The town is growing so fast.

I have, strangely, three hometowns. San Antonio is one of them. Lived there on and off for a number of years. I always know where to find a parking space when I need one.

Lee, have you tried using the free Sony "Data Converter"? I believe that program will open your raw images using the same profile you see on your LCD. I know they look different than they do when I open a raw image using PS's raw editor and even when viewing the thumbnails in PS Bridge.

Once you open your file in the Sony raw editor, it's pretty clunky and you only see results of any adjustments after they are made rather than real time. Once you've done minor, if any, adjustments there, you can import them into LR or PS as a 16 bit .tif for further editing. I don't use the program often but if I have an image I find difficult to adjust the way I want, I give the Sony editor a try. Oh, you can apply Sony's 'creative style's to the raw files too.

Lee, something I just thought of after reading Genes post above. Have you tried changing the picture profiles in lightroom? They are set at adobe standard on import but on the develop module near the bottom you can change them to camera deep, camera standard, etc etc. That's normally one of the first things I do when editing an image. I rarely leave an image set to adobe standard. Might be worth a try for you

This section -

EDIT - Also I sometimes try increasing the saturation on either the red, green or blue primary in this same section. Some images work better with green being increased, others blue etc so I try all 3 one by one and see what works. i find doing this can get colours to pop nice (as opposed to increasing the saturation slider at the top of the module)

I've been using the A7Rii profiles by Huelight, off and on, depending on the conditions

Sometimes Adobe standard is horrible, sometimes it's actually a better starting point. Either way, options are good

Guys, thanks for the input. I'm out tonight but home tomorrow daytime with no loss in the morning so will have a good look into those suggestions and see what I can come up with. I'm more than happy with my usual kids/car images though.

If one is looking to color calibrate their camera to LR, why not use xrite color checker and make a custom profile? Are these other pre-built profiles better than that? I'm asking because I struggle to understand all the different profile options.

In unusual lighting scenarios I do a custom color checker profile, but that can be a bit of a PITA, and you have to restart LR, etc... I've found the Huelight profiles serve as a much quicker jumping off point. But yeah, a custom profile from a passport (if you do it right) should technically be a lot better

I will say, getting the WB set right in the field seems more hit or miss for me with the A7R...I used to be able to dial in the 5DII by eye...the Sony interpretation is a bit different and will require some fiddling...

From tonight...earlier in the day the clouds were great, as I got setup the clouds were great...but as usual, about the time the light show started, the clouds were minimal...still liked it enough to edit it.

^ I like the reflection and composition on the shot.

Continuing my SA Riverwalk series with this shot from the northern part of the river. You can see the Pearl Brewery and Hotel Emma in the background. The clouds were really moving that morning and it was very cold with the wind blowing. This was taken around 6 AM. I tried to clone out the crane but decided to leave it in place since I liked the star bursts.

Multiple images blended in PS CC. The full res version has tons of detail in it. The colors, especially the lights reflecting in the water, were pretty much this vibrant. I did a slight boost but not much.

Ah, that's too bad. Well, hope you make it down soon. Spring time is a good time to visit.

Another early morning shot again blending multiple images. I'm finally getting the hang of Raya Pro.
