Picked up the rx1rII this morning. First impressions....it really is tiny...compared to the a7rII anyway. I was able to easily slip it into a jacket pocket which is cool. The size is probably detrimental for extended shooting though....not the most comfortable thing to hold. Also the battery is proportionately tiny (compared to the a7rII) and I wonder how the battery life will hold up in real world shooting. If its decent, then space batteries are always an easy solution.

Pop-up EVF is a nice addition. It's bigger than I thought it would be...doesn't feel any smaller than the a7 EVF if it is smaller on paper. It's a little awkward shooting with a viewfinder that's oriented to the extreme side of the camera...probably why Sony put the hump on the a7 cameras even though it adds a lot to the size.

In terms of operation....it functions just like the a7rII, but without as many wheels, buittons, and of course, no IBIS. It starts-up quickly, shoots quickly, and AF is fast. It looks like a toy but operates like a serious camera. Very cool.

My personal photos revolve heavily around the 35mm focal length so its a good fit for me....but I have a crazy idea of using this as second body when doing paid gigs. We'll see how that works out.

You need to tell us more about your space batteries, they must be much more powerful than the normal ones :p

Just kidding, congrats on your new toy. The size of the RX series is really fantastic to carry it around as an everyday camera...

i also like the focal length of 35mm,i closed the deal on a fuji x100 which is kinda a apc rx cam. i wanted something to put in my pocket when going for walks or just outside.the em5 is small with a small lens but the x100 is much smaller, should have it late next week. look forward to seeing some images from your rx

Ok since i'm a bokeh guy, I wanted to shoot Aperture Priority, Auto ISO and minimum shutter of 1/160sec and use EC when necessary. it won't work on me even if i set the min. shutterspeed.

I wonder where did i went wrong. any tips?

What doesn't work with it?

Another alternative is to set the camera to manual, use auto ISO, set the SS to the minimum you want and adjust the aperture as needed.

Did you set a max aperture? I think it will drop the shutter speed if the required ISO goes beyond the max set in the settings

i mostly shoot wide open on portrait. Maybe it drops down the shutter if light is not enough? i wanna try it this time with enough light.

it'll drop the shutter if you're topping your max ISO. Basically yes, not enough light

Aperture Priority is a semi-manual mode - the key word being semi - i.e. not fully.

The camera's meter will force the SS as low as required to achieve desired exposure once the max ISO has been hit in the Auto ISO range.

It is still a useful method to take pictures with as you will notice the camera dropping from 1/160 and this will indicate to you either need to select a wider aperture or up the Max Auto ISO.

If you are operating in lighting conditions where you are constantly drifting in and out of having enough light for your chosen setup, it is probably better to make a decision whether you can live with higher ISOs or lower SS because usually there is a SS limit that you do not want to drop below because high noise pictures are more preferable to pictures that are blurry. In this case, Shutter Priority is a far better choice if you still want the Camera / Computer to attempt to set correct exposure because while in TV / SS mode, if you choose a SS of 1/60, and that is not slow enough to get correct exposure, and the camera is already at max aperture and max ISO, the picture will still be taken - it will just be underexposed (in many Canon cameras the F Value (say F1.4 on a 35L F1.4) will be flashing telling you you are underexposed (i.e. it can't go faster than F1.4) but the picture will be still taken with your minimum SS of 1/60

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.
