thanks joon, not often you get such epic skies, had to drag the kids to go shooting with me on that one :-P, had a hunch the skies would clear up just enough for an awesome sunset.

that's a huge print, my cousin recently printed a photo for her home, probably only 75x50cm, and she likes it a lot:

I was really surprised that she picked out a portrait orientation photo. I've had other prints for family, and they typically shy away from portrait orientation stuff. Love viewing the large prints, the bigger the better.

120x90 is HUGE, I've had one done that big, and up close, the image does deteriorate somewhat. I am wanting to do a very large stitch one day, but it has to be an epic photo, not just aesthetically, but technically as well.

I'm wanting to do another large print. Was very happy with my first one (downtown LA bridge) and it happily hangs above my fireplace. But that was back in the 6D days. I just need to find myself something that I'll want to print that large among my usual subject matter. hehe.

Do you guys have to use adapters for the Rokinon lenses? Do they work with the MF Focus Drive & Focus Peaking?

My Rokinon is an EF mount (ie, it's their Canon version), so I have to use an EF-NEX mount with it. I got that version so I could potentially use it on my 6D as well. But now I'm thinking the 6D is going away. Ah well.
I'm still not entirely sure what you mean by "MF focus drive"..
But yes, the Rokinon, like any other manual focus lens, works with focus peaking. All lenses should work with focus peaking on the A7x cameras as that is a visual cue that's in-camera and has nothing to do with what lens is currently mounted.

This would be my choice too. I much prefer this one.

I really need to get out and shoot some more to get some new material to print (talk about a weird addiction, LOL).

If you go into the settings under "Focus Mode" there is expands out to AF-S, AF-C, DMF, and MF; that's where I was told the focus peaking and this setting had to be turned on to see the lines that show the focus on live view / viewfinder. I'm just wondering if this is functional if I happen to buy a native Sony mount Rokinon. On my A7s, the focus peaking works but not the highlighted areas showing what else is in focus. :(

I've never had any lens not work with focus peaking.. and I've used a lot of lenses on the Sony bodies, including stuff from the 1950's. Either your camera is broken, or you may want to spend some time with the manual / YouTube videos.. :)

and I'm not sure what you mean by 'lines' showing the focus.. there are no lines to show the focus, just the dots from focus peaking showing you what's in focus.. maybe it was a typo on your part, but I just want to make sure you know what you're actually looking for.

IMAGE: http://i.ytimg.com/vi/GH_3f5xmJ_k/maxresdefault.jpg

This is an example of focus peaking showing the front of the middle camera is in focus. The user changed the dot color to be red. I believe the dots are white by default.

The source of the image is actually a YouTube video on Focus Peaking with Sony cameras, might be worth a watch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GH_3f5xmJ_k (external link)

I have the A7II. I don't know if the menus are different on the A7S. But on mine, there is a focus peaking setting in the menus (not the same as Focus Mode). You turn it on, and you get focus peaking, which means in both the EVF and liveview, you see red outlines (or whatever color you choose) that shows what's in focus.
This works no matter what lens is mounted on the camera. It's not a function of the lens and works no matter if you use a modern Sony lens, Canon lens, or a vintage manual lens from the 1970s.
You have to be in manual focus mode for this to work (meaning, you toggle from AF to MF where you mentioned the focus mode).
So, to summarize:
-Set camera to MF mode.
-Set peaking ON in menus and select color of choice (this is a different menu item than focus mode!)
-Mount any lens and see color outline.

I hope that helps!

Also, search on youtube. There are a ton of videos demoing the peaking and how it works. Might be easier to see in a video than to interpret my explanations.

Do you mean the zebra function like in this video (external link)? I believe those lines show which parts of the image are overexposed?

That's a different setting called "Zebra" and has nothing to do with focusing. Not sure what Vixen is asking. She seems to be talking about manual focusing. But then the description gets a bit confusing.
Maybe best to look at a couple of youtube videos and see if we're all talking about the same thing.

Yeah, I know it has nothing to do with focusing, but the last sentence of Vixen89's post made me think Vixen89 could be talking about the "Zebra" function.

I want F2.8 zooms! On the other hand, if this AF with Canon lenses is legit, I may not need to buy the Sony versions. (catch 22 for Sony).

indeed, 2.8 zooms will likely be huge, so it might be more prudent to stick with canon stuff, which is high quality and proven.

quite a bold move by sony, making PDAF good with everything, including canon EF stuff. Sony's counter is to make better lenses than canon, and that is their goal.
