Just wanted to stop in and let you all know that I joined the group yesterday! Ordered my Sony A7ii w/ the 28-70. Also, picked up a 16-35 f4 that will be used for work (RE photographer). Extremely excited to be here!

Welcome to the group. You'll love your new Sony a7II

Not sure if you guys are following the sony live stream event or not....a6300 just announced....along with the 24-70 f2.8 and 70-200, along with an 85 1.4 G Master lens.

a6300 will be able to use adapted lenses (copper wiring in sensor)

Very cool...thanks for the heads up.

This will probably get buried quickly with the new Sony announcements but here goes anyway...

Smartphone holder shaft replacement

If anyone else decides on getting a Phantom 3 Standard, I highly recommend replacing the plastic smart phone holder with a metal one from the Phantom 2 Vision. By having a metal shaft, the phone will be much more stable and won't 'wiggle' around. Here's the link to the part at Amazon I got:

(Can you find my sig in this image? ;) )

Wow! FE lenses now:

16-35 f/4 OSS
24-70 f/4 OSS
24-70 f/2.8
28-70 f/3.5-5.6 OSS
28 f/2 + 21 2.8 or 16 fisheye
35 2.8
35 1.4
55 1.8
70-200 f/4 OSS
70-200 f/2.8 OSS
85 1.4
90 2.8 OSS
28-135 f/4 OSS
24-240 f/3.5-5.6 OSS

Nice set, but im really shocked that there are some focal length covered as much as 5 times, while the ultra wide end could need an f/2.8 lens too, as well as a tilt shift lens thats missing. Not for importance to me, but to many i guess, a +300mm lens...

Ive seen that they also brought out a 1.4x and 2x t-con!!!

Yeah. Need more UWA and telephoto lenses. Lots of redundancies in the 'normal' and 'medium' focal lengths. Wonder how these things will be priced...particularly since they presumably won't have the zeiss mark-up.

I'm not a huge fan of zooms anymore, and am pretty happy with my Canon zooms...so it'll take something special for me to pick these up.

Comparable to Canon and Nikon at MSRP so fairly priced IMO.

That said, if I buy these, it will be a year or so down the road when MSRP drops. No urgency to upgrade since the Canon versions work fine. And as I've learned selling a few FE lenses off...they do not hold their value as well as Canon...

Those prices seem reasonable for new lenses.

Not sure how much the 70-200 will be, maybe $2499?

Expensive, but i guess its fair compared to the prices of other brands. And i also think that they will be nothing short of exceptional performers

The tricky part was to copy a piece of the shaft and put that above the sig so I could partially hide it like the text on the controller...and to do a feathered blur.

As i stated before, you could get the 70-200 2.8 and a 2x tcon to get a 140-400 f/5.6 lens. Pretty nice if quality will not be degraded too much

If the quality of these new "G" Master lenses are as good as my FE 90 macro "G" lens, they will be outstanding!

I guess you're both right when you consider that the Canon 28-70 2.8 II original Street price was $2,300. Now it sells brand new for $1,800. I never realized their initial introductory price was that high. I was hoping that the 85 1.4 would be a bit cheaper though. Guess i just hang onto my Sigma 85 1.4 (Canon Mount) for the time being...it works great with the Metabones IV. Wait for some used to hit the street in a year or so. Excited that they introduced these though.

The price of the 85 makes it easier to stay with my adapted sigma - £1000 vs £350

If I was spending £1000 on an 85 for the sony it would be the 85LII

Odd that the sony 85 is more expensive than the Batis (£800)
