There is no reason to use the MBIV adapter on a manual lens like the TSE-24. What's the benefit?
You might as well use a much cheaper non-electronic EF-NEX adapter for that lens in particular.
Now if you have other EF lenses you're wanting to use with the A7x, that's a different story.
I personally have the Fotodiox adapter. It works perfectly fine and does not show any "snug" fit issues. I know some people around here do use the Metabones though. They can chime in on that topic.

Well the lens is manual but I still need to be able to control the aperture which sadly is not manual on the TSEs..

Does the fotodiox one let you change the aperture in camera?

Yes. Fotodiox is an electronic adapter, exactly like the Metabones. Same exact functionality.
And you're right. I didn't think about aperture. I'm so used to manual lenses with aperture rings, haha.

I have the Metabones IV and have used it with the TS-E 24mm II. No unique issues from the Metabones. Fit was good.

Dean, in addition to the aperture control, the reason why the Metabones IV is a good idea with the TS-E is that they specifically addressed the unique needs of tilt-shifts by enlarging the hole (vs. the III model). However, other alternative less-expensive adapters may offer the enlarged hole as well. That needs to be verified prior to purchase lest there be some serious vignetting when shifting.

If I may offer another suggestion regarding the Metabones adapter: Hejnar Photo makes an excellent RRS/Arca Swiss compatible L-bracket that attaches to the Metabones adapter. I prefer this because these Canon lenses are heavy and mounting the l-bracket to the adapter relieves a lot of weight from the camera lens mount. Basically the lens mount only needs to carry the weight of the camera (which is very light).

Also, Hejnar smartly designed a spacer which allows the TS-E lenses to have complete movement up-and-down with no interference from the bracket.

Thanks David. Didn't know about that "hole" issue. I wonder if the Fotodiox accounts for that. I don't have any TS lenses, so I couldn't say.

PS: Is it just me or does it seem like all the regulars are missing around here lately. At least not a whole of new photos posted. Is everyone on hiatus from photography because of the summer heat? I know I haven't shot in a month...

Thanks David. I did see the bracket for the adapter as well. That is one reason I was mainly looking at the Metabones adapter.

I should just bite the bullet and do it!

Who is using the Metabones IV adapter around here? I would really like to get the 24-TSE for my a7r (or possibly a7r mk2 in near future) but all the negative feedback around 'snug' fit makes me bit nervous to drop all that cash on these two?

Can someone please tell me that this is just overblown and no one is having this issue around here?

Well i got the commlite and the fotodiox and used both to mount my TSE24ii on my A7R. The comlite is superb. Better than the fotodiox IMO. But i still need the fotodiox since the commlite wont fit the A7R when you have done the tough e mount replacement.

My fotodiox fell apart as my 70-300L was mounted. Luckily i managed to not drop the lens but still. Very unhappy. At least their service is good as they wanted to see a picture and sent a new one. Still waiting, though, i hope the second one is better...

I've been taking a bit of a back seat while the A7Rii excitement blows over a bit ;)

I have been using the A7 on days out though. Again with the usual CV40 - I'm going to give the FE55 a good workout soon though I think.....

Do you know if the tough e mount replacement fits the metabones? I was thinking about replacing the mount as well but I am not sure if I need to do it..

I plan to use all my lenses with the tripod collar most of the time apart from old manual 50 that is not too heavy. Was the heavy lens support the main reason for this replacement?

The Commlite and the Fotodiox are working perfectly fine on the TS lens. At max shift not more vignetting as on the 6D.

its funny as now that nobody posts images here im having great fun taking my time a few hours to just go and shoot something. I wouldnt be minded if there would be more photos in this thread too :)

Works just fine for me - I like the matte black interior that prevents unnecessary light bouncing inside the chamber. Yes it is snug but I actually prefer the solid connection. Just be careful where to hold the lens when attaching and detaching, in particular the TS kind so that you don't inadvertently place undue stress on tilt and shift movements.

Ha! That's my setup too and I love it. Also, when not mounted on tripod head, the L-bracket turns into a convenient grip.

Not that anyone would miss me posting images here......but it's just been too hot where I live to get in the mood to go out shooting. I've been taking advantage of that by working on a major spreadsheet I've been developing for a long time.
