you guys are funny spending that kind of cash on a bag...that is a lot of green...I don't think I paid that much for any of my big packs...

And after doing taxes last night, and securing my first workshop this week...I think I am going to upgrade to the A7R2 soon...it was that or a 5Ds or 1Dx...and I think the Sony is going to win.

Any of you landscape guys use a geared head? Been considering a manfrotto junior geared head or one of the bigger manfrottos but unsure on it. Reports say there is still a bit of play in it. Also its not arca swiss so would need adapted to suit my L bracket (which is straight forward enough).

There are more expensive options that go up to £1000 but there's no way I'm paying that. Anyone have any experience of geared heads? (I currently use a ballhead)

I had one a long time ago when I was still shooting film in college...I never liked them, too many moving pieces to get things to line up...I find a ballhead to be easier to setup, change and secure.

I consider it a small price to pay to hold my thousands of dollars worth of gear in an extremely durable and functional way.

I securely hold my thousands of dollars in gear in bags that don't cost as much...now, they don't look as fancy...but then again, I don't want them to. And, given the choice of a saving toward a new lens or a pretty bag...I will take the saving toward a new lens...it might one day help pay for itself...

The appeal of these bags is that they don't look like camera bags. There's some vanity involved, but the other advantage is stealth. In some cases they look like a murse...but most look like nice, but generic messenger bags that can have anything from to text-books, diapers, or at best, a laptop or tablet in them. They're nothing that screams 'expensive camera!' like a lowepro bag or something that is very obviously a camera bag.

My $25 rapid dominance messenger bag doesn't scream expensive camera either :) . I get that people like expensive bags though, we all have issues in one way or another ;)

Dont actually use this bag anymore as its too big for my sony setup https://photography-on-the.net …/showthread.php?t=1010634

1DX or 1DXii ?? I see the Xii in my summer future, once I saw that its sensor was either Sony influenced licensed or copied I was smitten.

Black magic marker applied to 'Lowepro' helps a lot. I bet few of you have taken a handful of dirt/mud and intentionally rubbed it onto your camera bag?

I always wondered why someone would need these. I mean with a quality ballhead you can dampen the strength and adjust relative precisely. And if it isnt all that straight you can straight out in post which is not a problem anymore with all those mpx our cameras have.
