Congrats! I'm loving my peak design messenger bag. Great everyday bag that's stylish but very functional.

i wanted to buy that Peak Design bag but its big. however I have Peak Design Capture, Wrist Strap and I just ordered the SlideLite Strap for Mirrorless. I'm one of their fans too.

Thanks. The place is not a natural formation. It came to be due solely to a man-made environmental disaster in mid-19th century - bad farming/irrigation practices led to erosion on a massive scale. The erosion carved something pretty cool in its place. Looking forward to returning in a few weeks when the Plumleaf Azaleas are blooming.

When is that... I have been itching to go to Providence Canyon...

Thats a fair point. I have always used a ballhead and have no problem setting the position precisely and with a decent ballhead theres no sag etc. I think I just like the idea of minute precise movements on a geared head but in terms of functionality I can do everything I need with a ballhead. (Just needed talked out the purchase :) )

I know this! But sometimes it doesnt help and people tell about how great the desired product is lol

Next up is the folded size. Clear benefit with the Feisol here but I didnt buy the Induro to be small (Excuse the thing sitting on the table. Thats part of another project I have on the go)

In terms of performance the Induro is much more solid than the feisol. It also dampens any vibration a lot quicker. I tested both out by focus magnifying at maximum distance and viewing on the LCD how it handled knocks and taps etc.

Overall very happy with my purchase, its exactly what I have been after. I will still be keeping the Feisol though for times I need a smaller, lighter tripod. I will just have to be more careful with it now that I know how it reacts to vibration and wind etc

Wow that induro is big! How much more does it weight?

Question for you Travis: do you have any tips/advice for shooting dusk/blue hour in downtown ATL? Especially with regards to personal safety? I had few concerns walking around KC at night, it's gotten quite lively downtown thanks to downtown housing renaissance as well as the Power and Light entertainment district. But, ATL is a vastly larger city and I have read the downtown lacks much nightlife energy...which makes me nervous about encounters of the scary kind. So, what do you think: is it reasonably safe to shoot dowtown in the evening, or do you stay clear of it?

it probably weighs close to double, and being much longer, it is harder to handle during a hike. The size was always more of an issue rather than the pure weight. You just tend to bump into a lot more things with the large tripod, and forget about strapping to a backpack, it just flops all over. That said, it's truly ultimate stability using a big strong tripod. Being open all the way was about as stable as the feisol with 1 section opened.

Wow, i couldnt hang a child on the hook of the feisol lol! Well, im very happy with the feisol and i struggle to bring it more than enough as it is always a bit more cumbersome lugging a tripod around. There comes the size and weight difference very handy!

the feisol is great, that's why I'm sticking with it. If the wind kicks up, I'll lower it and stand to block the wind. It's just so much easier to lug around, that I work with its flaws. Most situations, it's wonderful.

From what I have read in reviews the Induros are targeted at the Gitzo market at a more affordable price point and offer similar performance. I now see what all the fuss is about from people who own Gitzos and Induros. I actually think its the dampening thats key. The Induro is almost instant, the feisol felt like it was continuously shaking in testing!. I have never noticed this before as never checked at 100% focus magnify but theres been a few times I have shot landscapes with it and wondered why I was getting soft images.

That's why I bought my Gitzo GT3541XLS when it was replaced by a new model. I got one of the last ones in stock and paid about €500 or €550 for it. My Arca Swiss Z1 ballhead was about €350 / €375. Expensive stuff in the end, but I don't see myself replacing it anytime soon (except for a lighter tripod maybe which would be welcome in some situations). I especially like the Arca Swiss Z1 ballhead.

I'm 1m87 btw and when my Gitzo is fully extended I can easily stand under it since it goes up to 198 cm.

That's what I like about the ONA Bowery. Ideal for a minimalistic setup. One mirrorless camera or a small DSLR with 1 or 2 lenses (or even 3 if they are small ones) and a few small accessories.

David, I have not had any trouble, but I tend to stay away from the parts of town where you might run into trouble...I have shot on the Jackson Street Overpass after dark on more than one occasion, and a group of us were wandering around down by the Old Sun Trust Tower during twilight...and Centennial Olympic Park is a safe place to be after dark. Yeah, there is not a lot of nightlife in the city proper, which is kinda cool...you can get some pretty empty streets...next month I am going to go scout a path for a workshop I am leading in April...if you feel like wandering around downtown let me know.

freaking amazing messenger bag

It better be for nearly $200! Maybe I'm missing something, but what makes it cost so much?

mystik610 wrote in post #17902233 (external link)
So I have one of those and was using it frequently....until one day the magnetic clips came undone in the car and my camera rolled out when I picked it up. Needless to say I don't use it anymore hah. Should be fine if you're mindful of the clips though.

Wow, that would majorly piss me off.

This is the bag that I use, though I paid a bit less for it ($60) at Best Buy... I've actually seen them for cheaper before on Amazon as well: http://www.amazon.com …&keywords=swiss+gear+zinc (external link) I've had it going on 4 years now I think, it's been fantastic :)

More from the Washington Auto Show. These guys were doing some interesting painting on these brand new cars...
