Travis - my cheap neoprene lens pouch arrived and I have now tried it on my tse lens. It works a treat. Its nice and snug but being neoprene it folds back easily to expose the tilt and shift functions. In the photo below the lens is set to maximum upwards shift. To focus all I do is squeeze where the focus ring is and turn and the pouch turns with the focus so easy to set focus without removing the pouch.

Excuse the rubbish camera phone photo.

Interesting. I missed the discussion, what is the purpose of the pouch?

Its to prevent light leaks when using the 16 stop ND filter. I've found the TSE to be mostly ok with 10 stops if i cast a shadow on the lens but once I push to 16 stops in bright light I get a lot of light in through the lens, especially whilst shifting. I've been trying to make a diy cover but eventually went for a cheap pouch which seems to have done the trick. Still to test it on a long exposure but the neoprene seems to be thick enough to block the light. Joel T uses a canon pouch with the end sliced open but I didn't want to ruin a pouch

The Sigma 150-600 Sport is a massive heavy lens...good luck supporting it with a cheap tripod. Does that lens even AF good on the a7R II? Hope to see some image samples posted here soon.

weather is not great, and didn't have time to go anywhere so far, but I took it outside by the river around 5:40pm (was getting dark already) and AF was fast, so far it seems to work good.

I want to see your images with the A7R2 and the TSE...I have read too much...and folks complain that the edges of the images are crap and that TSE lenses are best for DSLR...its the one lens and my love of it that has me holding onto my DSLR...

I read similar stories on FM forums but it seems ok to me in actual use. I have been meaning to do a proper controlled test at various apertures but havent had a chance yet. Ill try and do it this weekend and come back to you with a more definitive answer. Ive got some on my flickr taken with the combo but web size jpegs wont show you much

I would be forever grateful...I can't do my architectural work without a TSE...If I can convince myself that it will be just fine on the A7R2...then the A7R and 5D2 will go to fund it...and I will be a happy camper!

Ah, fascinating...thanks for the info. Your Neoprene sock solution is way better than a sliced Canon pouch.

In regards to testing a lens can anyone advise the best way of doing it? My thoughts were to take a series of images at various apertures from a tripod focused at something far in the distance/infinity with the lens angled so that the horizon passes through two corners. Then focus manually at something in the centre and compare sharpness at each aperture in the corners and centre frame.

Any better way of doing this to check how a lens performs? David A how did you test your lenses recently?

its very convient, sturdy and strong, and fits everything I need. its "weather sealed" really like the strap to, with "sticky" rubber pads that stay on your shoulder better even when you're moving.

Fair enough, I'm not questioning your purchase, just wondered why it was so expensive. I haven't had any issues with my Swiss Gear bag, but I don't think it would be classified as "weather sealed" (my solution is to keep a couple of plastic bags in one of the pouches for an emergency), but it has ticked those other boxes great for me so far.

I think Phillip Reeve angles his test images.

I dont normally like posting throw away shots but here is a SOOC exposure from the other day when I was testing the 16 stop. Its a 7 minute exposure and I didnt cover the lens which was at maximum upwards shift.

Note the lack of contrast due to the light leaking in. Also the shot is OOF due to the wind issues I was having shaking my tripod.
