Ah, fascinating...thanks for the info. Your Neoprene sock solution is way better than a sliced Canon pouch.

I use one of these: http://www.bhphotovideo.com …Pro_SLR_Storm_Jacket.html (external link)
but want to make it myself out of something thicker that blocks light more. It works nice, since you can get your hand in from the bottom...I want to build in a way to stick it to the back or sides of the Lee Holder..which might need some mods of its own...I went from modding my cars to modding my camera gear!

In regards to testing a lens can anyone advise the best way of doing it? My thoughts were to take a series of images at various apertures from a tripod focused at something far in the distance/infinity with the lens angled so that the horizon passes through two corners. Then focus manually at something in the centre and compare sharpness at each aperture in the corners and centre frame.

Any better way of doing this to check how a lens performs? David A how did you test your lenses recently?

My test was to compare all my lenses on 5DS R and a7R II - it was a comparitive test to learn if I lost any sharpness from my Canon lenses on the a7R II. At that time I had not repurchased the TS-E 24L II yet, so I need to redo the test for that lens. I think I'll go out and do that today. :)

For my test, since I was only using standard (non tilt/shift) lenses, I just positioned the tripod in a spot where I could get good detail in all four corners and took shots at all main apertures (1.4, 2, 2.8, 4, 5.6, 8, 11, 16). Since it was a comparative test I used the compare tool in LR to see them both side-by-side zoomed in. I didn't try using different focus points, though...that might be good to do.

Good stuff. This is what I will do and report back. Been wanting to check for myself as the reports on FM forums were putting doubts in my head. Fred himself sold his TSE lenses due to the performance on the A7RII (he may have kept the 17 I cant quite remember)

I dont normally like posting throw away shots but here is a SOOC exposure from the other day when I was testing the 16 stop. Its a 7 minute exposure and I didnt cover the lens which was at maximum upwards shift.

Note the lack of contrast due to the light leaking in. Also the shot is OOF due to the wind issues I was having shaking my tripod.

Interesting...I've noticed significantly worse contrast using my 16-stop filter on standard lenses and just thought that was a downside to the filters. Now you're getting me enthused about 16-stop filters again. You using the 100mm slide in filters? I had bought one of those Firecrest 16-stoppers and promptly broke it almost immediately while fussing with installing the gasket. Wish they would just put it on at the factory - who needs an ungasketed 16-stop 100mm slide-in filter?!

I flat just need one of those...be nice to keep my gear from getting wet with the added bonus that it works against light leaks too!

Very interested in your results Eddie. I've been needing a tilt shift lens for a while.

Btw, I love that architecture shot you shared. Hope you get another chance at capturing it and developing it.

Yes 16 stop 100mm firecrest. The gasket was a PITA to put on. I tried by putting the gasket on a table and placing the filter down onto it but it was still tricky.

With regards to the lack of contrast, I have had this happen before with my Lee big stopper then I have taken a shot straight after with the lens fully covered and it was back to normal so im fairly confident the lens pouch solution will work as long as it blocks all the light out

Thanks mate, That building will be my first shot for my new project. Ive got all the components I need now so as soon as I get the correct weather for it I will be heading back. Not happy with the framing on that one so will be taking it from a better angle

No problem Eddie. I've been following him for a few months. Awesome videos. He has gathered quite a following recently.

Very similar as what i experienced. I now wonder if it is because of shifting or because of the lens adapter

It could be both. My viltrox leaked through the interface between lens and mount.
