I am in 35mm paradise right now with the Canon 35L II, but the Sigma is almost as good for half the price.

35mm is just such an awesome fl for me. :)

Agreed. I have become a huge 35 fan in the past 6 months or so. The cv 35/1.7 is a great little lens, but I find I really miss AF for non landscape work.
Also considering the FE 35/1.4. Have you considered that one?

Can you post a picture of your SY 135 sitting straight up on one side of the divider and your A7RII on the other side of the divider? Also, does the SY 135 still fit in there with the lens hood attached in reverse?

I bought the FE 35mm f1.4 ZA a year ago and I absolutely loved it, but had to return it because it had a tilted element that produced some funky asymetric bokeh. When I posted images to the FE Lens thread on FM some sharp eyes spotted the abnormality right away. So I shipped it back and didn't repurchase, even though I did truly love that lens. Then I spent the whole rest of the year mulling my 35mm options.

The rendering of the FE is about as good as it gets. My only dislike is the color fringing in the bokeh, which can be a pain to clean up - far more difficult than your run-of-the-mill CA. But, it does have a gorgeous bokeh and excellent microcontrast. The reason I went with the Canon is two-fold: it is even sharper with nearly no CA, and I can use it on my two cameras. Bokeh is not nearly as good as the FE model though.

If I was going to get an FE mount 35mm, I'd probably go with the Loxia. I'm even torn between the Loxia 50mm or the Sonnar 55mm... or the Fuji XF 35/1.4 that I used to own...

So many excellent choices!

If I was going to buy a Loxia, it would be the 21mm... Just love what I'm seeing from it so far. I keep thinking about it......

I will end up with the FE28, FE85 and SY135. = a total of 6 FL with the FF and APS-C mode :p for that, i'm pretty covered.

p.s. adding my Canon FD20mm F2.8 S.S.C. for my landscape/architectural/interior stuff.

SY135 on the side with hood reversed, FE55 on camera (I hope the FE85 is shorter so i can put on the 85 on camera instead and the SY135 on the side.

The only way to put on the SY135, sideways. then you can put one a bit smaller lens on top or two small lenses.

SY135 on camera sideways, FE55 and Canon FD20m on top.

both can be closed properly.

Nice, so the SY 135 fits in properly with the hood reversed and the lens not attached to the camera. Is there a UV or Protect filter attached to the SY 135?

No. I stop using UV filters on my lenses already. Putting a cheap glass in front of an expensive glass doesn't make any sense as others have mentioned. A topic being discussed and debated over and over here in POTN and other forum sites.

That's why I don't buy cheap filters, but expensive ones. The B+W 007 Clear filters (external link) with their MRC Nano (external link) coatings for example (it's their premium line (external link)). But the reason why I was asking this is because it adds a tiny bit of length to the lens. I was wondering if the lens would still fit inside the bag with a UV or protect filter attached to it.

Sigma just released an EF to FE adapter. It supports AF, Stabilisation and aperture control. I dont know about how well sigmas lenses focus with the metabones as i dont own sigma lenses but if it does not work well i bet it would with this

Interesting. The sigma 85 focusses perfectly with metabones but doesn't work at all with viltrox ii. If the sigma adaptor is cheaper than metabones it may be an option for people looking to use sigma lenses but may not be upgradable like the metabones is.

I have B+W filters too before but one time the UV got broken, some tiny broken glass scattered all around the actual glass, then i had a hard time removing them, scary because it was with my 135L. but if ever i finally buy the 85GM, i will protect it with that particular model you've mentioned. the broken UV filter i experienced is still better than the front element being broken.

I think with the filter, it will still close properly. it's not tight at all when i closed the bag with the SY135 inside.

Dont want to open up the whole filters vs non filters for protection debate again but I decided long ago nit to do it. If I damage a lens I have camera insurance that will sort it. My excess is less than a decent filter would cost me
