So I'm daft, but please tell me what you would shoot with 50-100mm ??
OK anything and everything but what does that FL excel at.

Looks like there will be native E mount lenses from sigma soon, this an aps-c though:

No doubt they'll come out with a new mk V that does eye AF (but it will turn out that it only works on the left eye) and, a few months later, will quietly introduce a mk V 'T' adapter that actually does both eyes.

OK, I am still annoyed that Metabones came out with mk V, which supposedly works better with TS-E lenses (wider hole and, they claimed, a more matte hole). I bought that one and then months later they came out with the model 'T' that is actually properly flocked. The jerks.

the result of rushing a product to market without having all the kinks worked out...

anyone seen any mention of price for the sigma adapter?

If metabones crack the eye AF code and release a mk V adaptor (or a firmware update for the mk iv) it would be epic! Imagine eye AF on all canon lenses with the build quality of metabones. Surely they are working on it?

The Tech-art adapter does this already....hunts more than a native lens, but eye focus works. Only thing I didn't like about that adapter was the build quality...waiting for metabones or perhaps now Sigma to crack this themselves.

it is possible, techart proved that, I just wish their build quality was better.

Lock-On focus, eye-af it all worked great, the cheap build quality was the reason why I returned it.

Yeah I'm not super picky about the build quality of an adapter...but seriously..the locking switch that holds the lens in place felt like it would fall off in a couple weeks of use.

I look at this as an indoor sports lens for the 7D2 / Nikon equiv, non $7000 1Dx crowd, for high school and college sports. Would work great for basketball, volleyball, hockey, gymnastics, wrestling - anything inside on a crop body.

No IS basically proves it is for sports.

If it had IS it would be a perfect wedding lens - basically replicating the 70-200 without the very long end which is fine at 135mm is a common wedding portrait distance.

If it had IS I would probably buy it.

I'd like to see a 35, 50, 85, 135 from them but designed for FE so that they were smaller than their dslr counterparts. I read something from the sigma boss saying that eventually there would be FE lenses but they were concentrating on canikon first as its their biggest market. He said there would be no point releasing a 50 1.8 due to the FE55 but 1.4 on the other hand would be worth it. He also said they would aim to make them smaller than dslr. 12 months have passed though and there's not a hint of it yet.

Whilst I love my adapted sigma on the sony I would still love smaller versions and sigma pricing has always been reasonable even for new

Oh yeah totally...we need more third party guys making native lenses. The building a kit of FE lenses is too costly

portrait/event shooters.

with the APS fov, you get ~85-150mm f1.8. Something like that in FF would be droolworthy and probably need a cart to carry around.

I also didn't like the switch that switched the lens from Nor (Normal mode aka like Metabones) to Fn (Experimental functional mode, with all native features), that switch was just way to lose, just by holding the camera, the switch would sometimes move by itself.

Being able to use eye-Af with my 24-70II or 85L was nice, but they really need to improve the build quality.

Also the idea of updating the firmware on the adapter by bluetooth sounds like a good idea, but their firmware upgrade tool didn't work, it would simply crash with no explanation why, they still have a lot of work to get that process working well.

I thought there was native e mount sigma lenses already just not FE?

They need to stop messing around and make an FE lens

Indeed there are. 19, 30, and 60, all f/2.8, all optically good, and all cheap!

You only need 1/160sec shutterspeed to make it stabilized. Unless your hand are already really shaky.

What i'm excited about is sigma is starting to think about sony fe. A good sign perhaps.
