agree. for me 35, 85 and 135.

My choice would be similar; I prefer 24 or 28mm, 50mm and 100 to 135mm primes. My a7S go to kit consists of my FE 28mm, C/Y Zeiss (or Yashica ML) 50mm and my Rokinon 85mm (because I don't yet own a 100-135mm prime that equals it's quality)

that's why i didn't bother with the 35 because of my 28mm. a bit wider. I like it. so it's gonna be 28, 85 and 135 for me. I'll keep my FD20mm because it's cheap(but good) and i do landscapes/interiors once in a while.

That's a nice set. I have a collection of lenses that's growing on ridiculous, but most of them aren't worth enough to even bother selling... but I still use them from time to time

In the frame centre the image is very sharp already from the maximum relative aperture, with MTFs reaching almost 46 lpmm. It is more than the maximum result of the Canon EF 135 mm f/2L USM, so adored and praised by many people, which by f/4.0 exceeded slightly 43 lpmm! The Samyang, on stopping down reaches a record-breaking level of 47.6 lpmm.

On the fence for either lens

The SY 135 F/2 easily beats the 135L. Check out this comparison review. This is all meaningless of course if you need AF. I think it's also advisable to have IBIS when using a 135mm lens handheld because things can get shaky in the viewfinder.

No. Fully electronic shutter causes 12 bit mode though if that bothers you. First curtain doesnt

Only if you wanted to trigger a flash.

I have searched to see if I can tell the difference and no I can't see it. I can see closed eyes, bad light, bad body angles, bad backgrounds, etc - but seeing this loss in quality is impossible.

You can't however use it at very fast shutter speeds as there then is a physical effect that is visible. It is easily good to 1/1000. Faster than 1/2000 is not advised in my experience - Sony says 1/1000 is about max but you can go quicker.

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.

I've had EFCS on since I received the camera and also shoot in AF-C 12 bit mode most of the time and never seen an issue at any shutter speed. Only time I've seen something is when using fully electronic shutter and got a rolling shutter effect
