I traveled to a remote part of central Japan, to photograph beautifully preserved wooden houses dating back 200-300 years ago. People still live there now and it's forbidden to remodel or tear down these places. Thus, the buildings in Narai, Tsumago, and Magome, in Kiso Valley, all look like something that came out of a samurai film.

I have two versions: these ones are processed more like a Studio Ghibli film, so some of you might not like it. But, Studio Ghibli was the first thing that popped on my mind when I arrived here.

EXIF data says "Samyang 85mm," but it was actually the 135mm. POTN still doesn't have my lens on their database...

Very ethereal the subject seems to be rendered very appropriately. I guess the scene would also come across very well with more punch and detail too, just a matter of taste.
I like these. Must be a great trip.

I took my TS-E 24 II out with both the 5DS R and a7R II specifically to report back about the sharpness, and started having so much shooting the 5DS R I did a terrible job of giving any attention to the a7R II.........so, I need to try again so I can hive you a good image-to-image comparison.

But, yeah, after mounting the TS-E on the a7R II for the above comparison test I instantly got the HORRIBLE internal reflections that consistently prove to be an enthusiasm-deflating aberration for using the TS-E on my a7R II. Something unique about the TS-E that just makes the issue far worse than standard non-TS-E lenses. But, my current metabones isn't flocked. I had tried flocking a Metabones III but that never solved my problem and since the inner walls of the adapter are ribbed the flocking paper began to delaminate after a while.

I would love to know if the Metabones IV T adapter solves it, but I am loathe to send Metabones one more red cent after what they pulled with releasing the original Metabones IV (they claimed they fixed the unique issues for TS-E users, but turns out the IV was hardly any better than III, and then later they finally make the flocked version.).

I am going to rent the 17 and 24 TSE in a couple weeks getting ready for my workshop, and will be trying them both out on the A7R for now, unless I find an R2 before then...I have the MB IVT...flocked from the factory...will report back if Eddie has not had a chance to do some testing.

I've been thinking about that adapter...posted this in another thread, but apparently Sigma specifies that this is for Sigma lenses only. I wonder if they're going a step further than a typical adapter that simply transmits the AF signal via the contact pins. Technically since Sigma makes actual lenses, they could transmit lens specific lens information that mimics a native lens, and makes the camera thinks a native lens is attached....this could unlock things like eye focus and perform close to a FE lens. The tech-art adapter does this already, but it mimics the AF profile of existing FE lenses with an equivalent focal length and its not quite there.

they could but so far they announced that no eye-af, lock-on etc... just af-s. that might change in future.

edit, yeah no af-c :(

How is the SY 135 with the IBIS? I've been debating whether to jump to the ver. 2 or temporarily stay where i'm at and save for a new computer. Is it a very noticeable difference?

Build a PC yourself to save some money (or just buy new components for whatever you have now) and then use the saved cash to get the a7Rii ;)
