Interesting, I assumed the price would be higher than this. Can't wait to see the comparison between the two, it appears the e-mount version is a little longer and heavier than the M-mount but not by much.

Talk about jinxing myself! Has anyone ever ran into bother focussing on horizontal lines? It seems like the A7RII AF is not sensitive to horizontal lines and refuses to lock focus if it is horizontal lines only. Ive never really noticed this before but the 35 ART was hunting more than I remember it doing previously and I have worked out now that its when there is only horizontal lines. (Wish I hadnt said how amazing the lens was on mirrorless now!)

EDIT - Done a google search and found this wrote on a thread on FM - "This is something a lot of new Sony A7RII shooters are not aware of. Sony's PDAF fails miserably to lock on horizontal detail even with high contrast, especially in low light. It does ok with diagonal lines but it will work primarily with vertical detail. I believe that when PDAF fails to lock, contrast detection (much slower) takes place."

Must be a coincidence that I am only realising this now whilst the 35 ART was attached

No cross type points in the PDAF sensor. Using a larger AF area helps, as there is a larger area to find the phase difference. Not a big deal with hybrid AF (native lens only) since contrast detect doesn't get tripped up by straight lines.

This shouldn't be an issue if you get the new Sigma adapter, since it can use hybrid AF with the S35 Art.

My exciting contribution for today...which has nothing to do with the topic at hand other than it was shot using my Sigma 35 Art. :-)

Totally spoiled by a7R II. No IBIS = No Sale. :)

Yes, IBIS would have made the camera bigger. And....I couldn't care less. No excuse, imo. I don't need tiny cameras - just want awesomely performing ones.
