Now if Sony would have announced 100-400 with OSS at same time as A6300 I probably would have lept.

With the A6300 corect? Just to be sure..
Eriet you know the EOS 400/5.6? One of its beauties is that it is lightweight and easy to wield. Its partly light because no stabilization. I'd rather have IBIS.....knowing in lens is better for the longer FLs....and a lighter faster more affordable lens. Just me :)

Yes but at this point I cant have it all. I really wanted that 2x converter even thought it would have put the 400 end at F8 just for the fact I wouldn't have to have an extra lens. OH and yes on Brians Blog under the 6300 test shots I asked.

Maybe I will be surprised by the pricing of the 70-200 2.8 and 2x I mean if the combo comes in at under 3200 or so then Maybe I will sell stuff to get there. I just really wish 2016 would bring a 400mm to the stable.

Thanks. those clouds were coming in from the South...they had these little pockets that let light through...I wished I had my remote, a good long 3 minutes would have been really cool.

35 art has arrived. Missed this lens. 100% hit rate so far on all my wide open test shots straight out of the box. Man I love mirrorless!. When I had this lens previously it took a week of dottune to get it working as I wanted

I really love my 35 art. It nails focus every time, is wicked sharp and that's a deadly combination wide open.

Testing out the smooth reflections app while doing some gardening.

2.5s x 8, merged into 1 file all via the app

I had also used the 16 stop firecrest, however, it created a lot of noise and couldnt handle the same processing as the smooth reflections, so........ if I need 16 stops, I'll likely shoot 10 stop x 8/16 times.

SR is a winning combo IMO, easier to work with since you dont need bulb, and can expose just as long and MUCH cleaner.

Funny you mention the firecrest. I just got one in today. Will want to try it out at the beach this weekend.
So you like the Smooth Reflections better than a real ND?

I won't be getting rid of my ND's. The smooth reflections app has its place and I think it can replace a lot of bulb scenarios, if not all. The biggest issue with the app is the stepping that occurs with many short exposures, so best to do a many second ND shot many times instead of a single 16 stop shot.

I won't be using the smooth reflections without an ND or somewhat long exposure. It's been great so far, as you do get a raw from it.

Fiddling with firecrest 16 stop

There was really a lot of noise introduce due to two things, even @ 6minutes, I was underexposed by a stop or so. Increasing in bulb that long brought out the confetti for sure. I didnt have time to use smooth reflections in this exact photo, didnt have time, however, my previous shot using smooth reflections is just totally cleaner. Completely different league.

Lovely shot!. I was just taking test shots with the new lens around the house and it was hunting a lot if there were no vertical lines. Seemed to be better in afs (I normally shoot afc). Light was low though. Never noticed the issue with any other lenses, it provably wont be a ptoblem

Man, too bad you can't buy one from the states. I see them regularly for under $200 used, $250 brand new (what I paid for mine new). I've even seen very good condition ones going for $150.

I managed to snag one for £150 from eBay, basically brand new as apparently it's only been used a couple of times! Pretty happy as that half price over here

Anyone have their eye on the new Sony A6300?

I was thinking that it would be a cheap way into the Sony system. Then I noticed it didn't have uncompressed/lossless compression RAW files and IBIS. It's also almost as expensive as the A7II. So it's a "no".
