So my journey to find lenses for the A7R II continues. Today, the Fotodiox Pro adapter arrived to convert my last remaining Canon lens, the 24-70 f/4 IS. I tried the Metabones IV T, and quite frankly I wasn't that impressed given the $400 price.
I was surprised to find out that the Fotodiox one works really well (perhaps better than the MB) with the 24-70 f/4 IS lens on my A7R II. It seems like it needed a bit of time to "learn" the lens and from that point on, seems to nail focus everytime even near the perimeter of the AF frame. I had my Canon glass for sale, and this was the last lens remaining, so now I think I'm going to keep it. I also plan to use the adapter on my Sigma 35 f/1.4 Art until the new Sigma MC-11 ships.
I tried the Sony/Zeiss 35mm f/1.4, but too much purple fringing and the Sigma was way less expensive with a recent promo for the lens and adapter. While the Sigma lenses are fairly large, there is no disputing their optical quality and fairly reasonable price.
