Better? (Still can't clone the red sliver out!)

If you use PS, you could use the quick selection tool to select the area around the red strap as close as you can. Then use the 'Select>Color Range' tool to refine the selection more. Then use the 'refine edge' tool to feather the selection about .9 pixels. Now you should be able to use the clone stamp tool adjacent to the selected area to grab the skin color next to the selection. Apply the clone from the top down. It will only affect the pixels within the selected area.

After that, you'll probably have to unselect (ctl+d) then run the clone tool down the left edge to remove any remanents of red there. In my attempt, there was still a small amount of red in a couple of places mixed within the black of her sweater so I selected those areas, added a 'hue/saturation' adjustment layer, used that layer's selection tool to choose the color (reds) and then reduced the saturation until the reds were gone.

Another idea I had:
Paul mentioned the orangeness. An easy fix for that (from within Photohsop) is to copy the layer (CTL/CMD J) and go to the camera raw filter (CTL/CMD Shift A) and in the HSL/Grayscale Tab pull the Orange saturation slider down to about -22.

BTW, I only mention copying the layer because I prefer to work non-destructively. Alternatively you can turn the base layer into a smart object, which allows you to go back and tweak settings later.

PP?

I've had it less than a week, yesterday was my first outing with it. So far I really like it, it's a lot easier to nail focus at f/1.4 than I thought... assuming you've got the time. The RAWS require a bit more work to make it "pop" when compared to the FE 28mm for example, but the out of focus stuff renders nicely. The lens itself is a bit weighty, but its a reassuring weight and the focus ring is really nicely damped for fine tuning.

the picture profile seems a little vintage/soft even though the image itself is sharp. i thought maybe you did that on purpose in post.

I toned the orange down a little in the second shot, didn't cross my mind to pull the orange saturation slider down... I cooled the temp on the brush I applied to soften the skin. I used Lightroom for the whole edit, so it's non-destructive anyways! Thanks again for the hint.

Oh, my misunderstanding. Yea, I applied a pretty strong s-curve as I posted on Instagram and I just like that style for certain social media!

NP. I'm not a fan of flat contrast with no blacks either so I probably would have edited this image maybe more like this. I realize this is a matter of personal choice but I thought I'd throw my thoughts your way just as a suggestion.

Yea, I'm the opposite I like the crushed blacks etc. I realised you've edited a compressed JPEG edit of mine, but my fiancé looks possessed in that lol!

FWIW...I liked your original edit and framing, I don't mind the softer contrast, I think it works well in some cases, this one included....the only nits I had were the red strap and the slight orange tint to the skin, both easy fixes. I think that tree is an awesome backdrop, I think I might have tried to not have one of the tendrils of the tree int eh same plane of focus as her face, that one tendril takes attention away from what should be the only subject in the image.

Many thanks! I've removed the orange tint, now just to remove the red strap myself.

I also love the backdrop, it was just in the corner of a greenhouse in the Botanical Gardens here in my city. I see what you mean, we tried to get a bit of distance between her and the tree but the space was cramped and it was quite busy. We will have to go back and give it another go! Thanks for the feedback!

a little - but I personally would take more orange out

i think we should all adopt the phrase to 'De-Donald' the skin

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.

Took more orange out (haha De-Donald!) and removed the red sliver:

better for sure - i would go another 5% or so based on what you just did

and or

i would use an inverted radial filter in LR over her face and add 0.1-0.25 of exposure to her face to give it a tiny pop

overall, nice image

Sigh ok so I had the botanical garden experience with my 55 1.8 where I learned about CA issues with the 55 and the A7r2 at wide apertures and certain subject matter. Basically i was using the lens much like a do all lens that day and so it was covering some of the semi-macro shots where the CA shows up on say cactus spines in light.

So this weekend I was using the Siggy 85 1.4 and had the same issue. Love both these lenses but the A7rii is taxing the wide open fine edges.

Just have to adjust what I am trying to do and pull the macro lens out when I want to macro.

Anyway spent Saturday at the Tucson Air show with my Olympus trailblazer friend Alex and then Sunday went hiking at a local dam.
