A little background here. The first time I saw this pair was middle of last week. They both landed in a tree above our chicken coop. It was obvious they were doves, but a species that I'd never seen. Than they flew off. I looked them up and found that they were Eurasian collared-doves. Mapping didn't show any particular location for them in the U.S. Some digging indicated that they were fairly new to this country. I hoped to see them again. A couple of days later we were at a BBQ at our neighbors. Low and behold in late afternoon they flew in and landed in a tree close to where we were all sitting. How cool that was. Than they flew off again. The next day I got up to tend to the chickens, and there they were, both sitting on our shed. I had my camera close by and managed a quick shot before they left again. Several days later, I saw one feeding on the ground in our backyard. Yesterday my neighbor called to tell me that she had seen one on the fence next to her house. So now I'm thinking that they may be nesting close by. They are really pretty birds with an interesting call, What I found interesting was that they found there way to our area in North Idaho from who knows where. Secondly, they must have came as a pair, as no one around here as ever seen one before. Hope I get a few more pics of them this summer.:-)

They're almost a scourge here. We had to change our feeders to discourage them.

Hey Mel. Now I know where they could have come from. I imagine one day we will have lots of them around here also then.

Lovely shot Terry.

We have a pair in our back garden at home (what you would call your yard I think). They and the wood pigeons can be very peaceful to wake to.
