More like about twenty...via the magic of PS was able to take bits and pieces from each image and combine them into one big image.

did the movement of the bird cause problems? was this kinda freeform taking a bunch of shots or you tried to break it up into an even grid?

Let me be clear...it was in no way a "merge to panorama".
More like an assembly of bits and pieces morphed to fit/blend into a virgin image.

Here, you must photograph ducks. It's an inherent part of the culture, from very early on, if not the beginning.

I don't do anything to test out a new lens. I just use it the same way I would any other lens, as if I had already had it for a while. I guess there isn't really any excitement or anything about getting it - it is just another tool at my disposal.

Does a plumber get all excited when he gets a new pair of pliers? No. He just uses the new pliers the same way he used the old pliers - he doesn't go looking for things to tighten or loosen so that he can "test out" the pliers. That's how I am with lenses, whether they cost me $8000 or whether they only cost me $400 - just another tool, nothing more, nothing less.

Heck, Tom, it depends on your "inner" make up. I get excited about a new lens and feeel like a kid in a candy store. Though, I'm light years away from being a kid...matter of fact I'm almost retired. We're all different.
So when I got my new glass, the gorgeous Canon EF 70-200 f2.8/L IS mk2 I shot myself stupid :) Anything and in particular a cat who visits my backyard :)
To me it's not necessarily just another tool but then I'm not a real pro, well kind off, just started my serious business...and here is the cat shot with that new baby
