Is there a way to take a screenshot of your camera's LCD display? I'm using a 5D2, btw.

TIA

I was trying to avoid doing that.

Amazed that Canon packs so many bells and whistles on their cameras but something useful as this function is not available. Ah well, guess I'll just use a second camera as GeoKras suggested. Don't really wanna mess with the firmware.

Thanks, fellas. :-)

Uh, hook up the camera to a PC or Mac and export the image? It looks remarkably like the screen! :p

Seriously, why? Even if there is a way....the screen shot is on the card with the image. You might as well export the image.

Because I want a screenshot of the LCD displaying the histograms, not unlike the images Canon prints on the camera's manual, for an article I'm working on. I'm not interested in the photo per se.

Will this work? CTRL+SHIFT+PrtScn, pasted into PSE, exported to desktop. The whole process takes 2 seconds, and it is a LOT bigger than a 3" screen.

Nope. I need something like this:

IMAGE: http://diamantstudios.ca/Gemeines/bilder/Examples/_MG_9121.jpg

It must be an exact representation of the info displayed by the LCD screen.

I had no choice but to use the Rebel to take it. I had to deal with glare and camera shake (I only have one tripod). Of course, being a product shooter I coulda set it up nicely, but sometimes you just want a simple and quick solution, such as pressing both buttons on your iPhone and automatically recording whatever's on the screen at that time.

Thanks.

So why don't you do it in PS? It shouldn't take more than 10 minutes to make a template.

If you just need the LCD, I'd use a macro lens so you could get close enough to fill the screen. If you need the camera, too, use a base shot of the properly exposed camera to superimpose the LCD shots onto. I don't understand how one tripod is limiting this shot.
