How to make a search specific?

For instance, I'm interested in threads that contain 5DS in the title. I'm getting a lot if nonsense that relates to 5D, 5D2, & 5D3. I tried quotation marks, asterisk, brackets and not getting the results I need.

I just want thread titles that contain "5DS", how is this done?

I think the reason is that the grammar parser inside the search engine thinks that the S in the end of 5DS is a plural and removes it on execution of the search. Searching 5DR seems to prove that theory.

I'll see what I can do about it. The search engine has some special conversion tables which I may use to make that search work.

i would think an advanced search engine (one that removes the plural) could also use operators such as quotes to search for the exact string, or + to mark a word as more relevant, or - to mark a word as irrelevant. I think i tried quotes at one point but it didn't work.

just a thought, I'm assuming the search was prebuilt, maybe it's in there and not activated?
