This flew over me the other day in South Wales UK, i took these two shots but after realized i had my VR selected to moving, so they have come out a bit rough.

Might be an AT-6 Texan also called Harvard in the UK.

What day was it - could there have been an airshow on that it was attending?

It may not be on the display list as you sometimes get planes flying in without prior announcement or sometimes they fly in to come and watch the airshow themselves.

Think it's almost certainly 313048 G-TDJN. I've seen it at Halfpenny Green a few times, very nice aircraft too.

Yep, agree.

Out of all the UK flying AT-6 Texan/Harvards there is only one that I can see that is painted in USAF colours.

Here's a picture of 313048 G-TDJN taken in April this year (not by me)
