hey, it's just great ya got something that works for you!! And a bummer there were two bad Sigma's in succession. I wonder though, if these thngs do run in batches and it's possible for some simple production issue to cause some batches to be consistenly flaky.

No matter now ya can have some fun!!

...well, not quite. The deal is that I have to send him the lens (Long Island), then instruct him over the phone how to shoot interiors with it and an external flash (320EX). After he gets his shots, he sends the lens back to me.

I might not get the lens back until the end of the summer...

downfall:

those are super nice! I love how the first one looks almost too perfect. To be honest it brings to mind some sort of custom cake decorations a friend of ours does as a business. She makes some things that like just so real. I know that is a weird connection but the clean lines of the first photo really do bring it to my mind.

And too funny about laying out in the sun on your back in office attire at the beach around noon. Love that sort of dedication! :)

hahahahahaa....amen brother...I KNOW the feeling all too well. I am just getting back into the SLR end of things after being away for a good 30-yr break and have just used a Sony DSC-S70 over the past 8-9yrs. But I refuse to do it any way but manual and to re-learn all my f/stops & expousre rules. But that good photo stands out so much when you finally get one. Like I wrote I really like that first one, it's just so clean and crisp. The other does not "blow my skirt up", still the sky came out fantastic to my eyes.

I'm beginning to think my new copy is defective as well!

The AF distance indicator is rarely correct. When I AF on a distant object, it says 3 feet. Often the distance indicated is incorrect. Am I missing something, or is this another defective HSM???

neat Bioshock...kinda surreal...that looks like it was a fairly long exposure. About how long? I love the way the village lights illuminate the sheer rock wall on the right...and is that a waterfall in there too?

Actually all of the shots shown on this page are super looking to me...it really is such a fun lens. I have to be in Santa Barbara all day on Friday and am hoping to get some time to take pics...
