I was out watching an Osprey nest on Mare Island California, when I heard a tremendous commotion in the air behind me. The unmistakable screech of a red-tailed hawk, then another. The hawks of the island are excellent snake hunters, and I guess there was a dispute going on. Looks like they got the snake right as it was moulting. 7D2 with 500mm.

Great series there; looks like it's an air-to-air kind of year

Super shots, those last two where each hawk has hold of the snake are terrific!

Thanks to everyone. It was truly a right time at the right place moment, as I had my 500 trained on the Osprey nest when I heard all the commotion and just had to aim up and fire away.
