Westcott 7' Parabolic Good choice for group family shot?

What are you envisioning for you group portrait?

I'd like to do something where the sun is the rim light but it sounds like this might not be doable unless its in the later evening when the sun goes down. I was going to have the strobe 3 feet above them shoot down to them. I was going to stand on a something for some height. Depending on light and family have maybe the men behind and women in front. I am going through images ideas.
