Came home to find these 2 in our backyard! They are Eastern Screech Owls!
Looked like they were trying to get some sleep when we found them! Looks more like I am getting the "Stink Eye" though!

All taken with a 70D and Sigma 70-200 2.8

Heavily cropped to show the "hate" in the eyes! lol

Enjoying the day before I interrupted with my 'click click click'

And the juvenile. This one was a few branches below the adult.

Looking more sleepy than hateful!

Very nice series Blake. Especially the juvenile, not something you see everyday!

Wonderful series, and lucky you to host them in your yard! Hope they stay for awhile.

Thanks! Our Akita actually point them out! My wife saw him silently staring up so went to investigate.

I plan on building an owl box for them. We def have enough rodents in the field for them!

Hey, great stuff, Blake, neat shots of Mom (I'm guessing) and baby! They would be fun to have around.

Thanks! I contacted a local nature center and sent them the photos and asked questions. They said there is no way to tell if it's a male or female unless we had both of them to compare size. I didn't see an adult pair so I would guess it's the mom! :)

Wonderful shots.

Does look very much like a "keep the noise down" look. :)

Screech owls are so cool and usually very accepting of humans.
Great photos.
