Something screwy is going on with my 70D and I'm hoping someone else has experienced and solved the problem.

The camera no longer autofocus via the viewfinder. When I switch to LiveView it does autofocus but the screen does not gain-up in dark situations as expected. I reset my custom functions and settings back to the defaults and tested with three different lenses without improvement. I checked that the focus mirror is in position and it looks correct, and I don't see anything blocking the focus sensors.

Just a little sick to my stomach right now. :(

Before I send it back to Canon I figured I'd post here for advice.

Thanks.

I don't think the 70D has a removable watch battery for settings. At least not that I can find.

Pulled the main battery out for an hour, cleaned the contacts. Checked all the settings and now it focuses again. Yay!
