This was the first time I have seen noctilucent clouds and photographed them.
Wasn't really expecting to see much last night due to the clouds and rain.
Tried to show this using a panoramic format instead of the normal crop.

It seems you guys across the pond get them a lot more than we do in North America. I've known about noctilucent clouds for six years and have only managed to see them once. Thanks for the comments. flickr

Are you in the right area for seeing them? You generally have to be above 50 degrees latitude to be in with a chance. Yes, I'm just north of 50. It's common to see the aurora here, but noctilucent clouds.... Not so much

Another good shot. I took a peek last night at sunset but I guess they favor Europe I guess they do, although they have been quiet the past few nights. It is still the start of the season so we still have until August. flickr
