While I currently work on a crop body 60D I am in the market for a FF body. On the crop and even on FF, I love the rokinon for the sharpness but I just bought a Tamron 24-70 (WOW). Now im trying to figure out if I really need the 85mm. I don't love the focusing distance, and the manual focus has become a real drag when im not shooting portraits. Has anyone compared the sharpness of the 85 with a 70-200 (tamron, sigma, canon f4)? And do you anticipate regret if I sell the 85 for a telephoto. At this point the tamron is always in use so the telephoto would just be to take place of the 85 and give me something a bit longer when needed...thoughts?

Hmmm. I prefer the 135 focal length for outdoor portraits and the 85 focal length for indoors on FF. The only time I use my 24-70 for portraits is doing group shots of 4 or more people using FF. The 70-200 makes a versatile zoom

get a full frame body first and try it, that's the only way to find out. The 85 will be drastically different on FF (same with the 24-70).

the 70-200 tamron is even better than the 24-70..... however it's big and heavy.

wide open, the tamron 70-200 will be sharper than the rokinon wide open, however, once you go FF, you may find out that the rok 85 is quite good wide open, compared to what you're dealing with now.

if MF is becoming a drag, the closest you'll get for outlay vs IQ and aperture is the Sigma 85 or Canon 1.8. if the big aperture is not a desire then the zoom (particularly the mk2 Canon) will be fine
