Having trouble finding how to set personal preferences for viewing the forum. I have tried FYEO and on the left there is a list of about 25 categories ranging from page margins, to signature, to email preferences, and so on. But what is missing (or, more likely, what I can't find) is general forum viewing preferences.

I have also tried clicking on my own avatar, and that brings me to a page with latest threads, latest posts and a way to edit personal information, but again, no settings for forum viewing preferences.

Is that somewhere else? If so, where?

Thanks,

Rad

What is it you want to change that would not be in one of the categories listed?

Nothing fancy, just basic view settings.

The setting that comes to mind right now is threads per page. I thing that the default is something like 10 or 15 threads per page view. I forget which, but it is some tiny value. I would like to change that back to 50 threads per page (or more, if more is part of the AMASS enhancement) so I am not clicking "Next Page", "Next Page", "Next Page", "Next Page", "Next Page", "Next Page", "Next Page".

Also, how to set something like "begin at oldest post first", rather than popping down to the newest post on a previously visited thread.

Threads per page is set to 15, and not currently changeable. Pekka believes that this reduces load on the server and you connection when loading a page with a lot of images on it (especially if they're hosted on the POTN server). If you're re-entering a multi-page thread, at the end of the thread title is a [page 1, last page:14]; clicking on page 1 will bring you to the top of the first page. I believe that in AMASS 1.33, clicking on the thread title will (now that we've all gotten used to the idea that it brings us to the first unread post) bring you to the top of the thread. That should be along fairly soon now.

Semi-related: https://photography-on-the.net …/showthread.php?t=1416540

I wrote a Chrome browser extension to customize the look and feel of the forum. I'm not sure if anyone else is using it, but I've been using it through a couple of forum upgrades and nothing has broken so far.

For what it's worth (and the reason I'm posting it here), I added keyboard shortcuts to help navigate around the forum. You might find them helpful in moving around without having to hunt down the Next/Previous buttons. I'm more inclined to use a keyboard to navigate around the Web than a mouse...just a personal preference.

Anyway, hope this helps...feel free to ask if you have any questions.
