I may be mistaken, but I believe there's a compatibility issue with some of the older ETTL Yongnuo flashes that prevents the Odin from working with them. It may have been fixed in a firmware update at some point though...something to look into.

Obviously the Odin doesn't bring anything to the table with regard to the manual Yongnuo flashes. That being said, I have the Odin system and some old Stratos I triggers, and they're somewhat interoperable...the Stratos II triggers are fully interoperable. The Stratos I triggers only work on channel A or something because there isn't a channel selector 'A/B/C' like there is on the Stratos II's, but it's a good way to mix speedlights and studio lights if you have the need.

there is an issue with long distance (over 20-30 meters i think) transmission on the first issuance of 622TX triggers, I think they worked it out with new models, you just have to make sure you get the newest model. the 622 TX thread talks all about it.

now that you mention it, I do recall reading about that.

I literally had a set of Odin's in my hand and was standing at the counter of a camera store when I chickened out. I told the guy I needed to go get lunch and think it over (I was buying other stuff too). I never went back.

ended up starting out with 603II and 6 months later getting a full set of 622s. Still haven't bought the 622TX, since my main lights are CL360s.

Phottix only guarantee perfect functionality with either the camera brand Speedlites or their own Mitros & Mitros +'Plus' units. IOW ETTL exposure should be as Canon intended, 2/3 + or - FEC should mean exactly that etcetc.

I use a 580 ExII and some old 550Exs, but I have found a near clone of the 580ExII, the 'Meike MK600 ETTL' which does work well with Odins and costs just £77, $115. It loses a few CFns & recycling is not up to the original - but otherwise it works well.

My Odins have not missed a beat since Nov 2011!
