hi

i use often nik silver efex pro 2 for my black and white

what i can 't do is isolate a part of the image with control points from the global adjustament

for example i want to add contrast to the all image but not on a part of the image

for example i took a shot , female body and sand and sea

i want to add contrast to all image but preserving the female body (i don't want to add contrast on her)

can i do it?
can i use global adjustament and control points (to protect some part of the image) ?

thanks

you can always make a dublicate with alternate adjustments and then combine the two using mask in PS.

You could try doing the global adjustment first and then adding a separate control point just on the girl and dial down the contrast you did on the global adjustment?

Wouldn't that effectively isolate the girls contrast from the overall image? You could also use the nik selective brush option to just brush the contrast everywhere except on the girl. Or vice versa, use the brush option and select the erase option from the nik tools area to remove the contrast from the girl.

Or don't do a global adjustment, use control points for the contrast you want and then put neutral control points on the girl to block the mask.

You add the adjustment you want, then you hit minus instead of plus on the adjustment and place a point where you don't want the effect and it will negate the effect in that area. You can change the size, etc.

this. it negates the adjustment you've made in that area only.

Never got that control points idea, as they are not so precise, as PS masks can be.

They affect a color range, you an show the mask they're affecting and it's quite ease to make them precise. Like anything it takes some learning to understand them and how they work.
