I tried an pic with Canon gear (older but in the Exif) and it failed to fetch Exif. It occured to me that I embedded a "downsized" image from my Web host PBase so now I'm uploading another image at the same size:

The first downsized, with the Canon EOS 30D and the Canon EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS Lens:

IMAGE: http://www.pbase.com/tonylong/image/80349174.jpg

Well, I still can't get any Exif to "fill In". When I tried to post/embed the image in what has been the "original" URL:

http://www.pbase.com/tonylong/image/80349174/original.jpg

It failed. I'll try it with IMG tags:

IMAGE NOT FOUND
HTTP response: 403 | MIME changed to 'text/html'

Well, that didn't work...

OK, I just checked some more of my photos. The "/original.jpg" extension seems to be causing an AMASS failure...? And, since the 17-85 isn't in the proper list/database, well, Houston, wee have a problem (a hassle)!

The .jpg ending is just fine.

The ULR http://www.pbase.com …age/80349174/original.jpg (external link) produces an error page "403 Forbidden". That is why it is not usable: your server refuses to serve the image. Maybe your server has a firewall protection or some other setting on.

17-85 missing? There is https://photography-on-the.net/forum/gearindex.php?id=9

Well, I don't know, it worked with the old POTN, I believe, I'll have to check things out!

The 17-85 was missing from the list that came up when I tried to pick a lens to fill in the Exif for the gallery. I did find it when going to the Gear section, added it, then in the gallery add section it came up when I clicked to browse my gear, I just figured a lens like that would automatically "pop up" in the auto exif function.

Another strange thing: When I activate the auto exif, my EF 100-400 IS lens comes up with a strange identity and I have to open the database to find it, and the same thing happened with a shot taken with the 24-70 f/2.8 L lens...

Tony, I was testing, just for curiosity:
In the G-Series Speed Challenges there are some images hosted on pbase with the name 'original.jpg' that work just fine. I tested one of those links today and the image is displayed with no problems.
I think it is worth to check if your image is not in a private folder/gallery of your pbase account or if it has set another restriction for displaying/downloading.

I'll have to examine things, things worked well previously, not sure what the problem is, right now my level of "up and at 'em" is not very "up and at 'em" but I'll check back when/if I see some meaningful stuff!

I think I found the problem! A while back I hit some financially hard times and could not keep up my subscription with PBase and they downsized some of my 10,000 photos, so "original" was lost, along with the Exif, Oh Well!
