When I press the shutter I expect the lens to snap into focus, as it does when I'm using my Canon 60D, but not like it does when I'm using my 70D; which is brand new.
Here's what the 70D does.
For no apparent reason; no flashing lights in the viewfinder, etc., a shot will refuse to focus; the function just goes dead in the water, no matter how many times I press the shutter, or point somewhere else.
It takes about a minute to get control again, and not because of anything I do.
I took it out yesterday, on a very sunny San Diego afternoon and I'd say the camera failed to focus on 1/4 of my shots, quite possibly more. The only way to get control before the time it takes for control to come back on it's own, is to toggle the power off and back on.
I have the nagging suspicion that there is something about the 70D that I don't understand and all I need to do is figure it out, but it's been going on for as long as I can remember and I haven't figured it out.
I can't believe it a mechanical issue, or a failure of the camera, but I suppose it's possible.
Any suggestions about what I should be considering?
