So exciting!

I got an e-mail from Avenues Magazine asking if they could get a high resolution file of a shot I took several years ago of the Orient Lighthouse. I have three observations: (1) take that, stock photography companies. This is the second time that an image I posted on my personal website drew a commercial interest. (2) For those worried about having their images stolen, low resolution images seem to be not useful. (3) I wrote back asking for their terms and what license grants they wanted. I didn't get an answer. So maybe they were thinking that I would be so excited that I'd give them the shots for free. Oh well.

Always nice when people like your photos enough to want to publish them. Much nicer when they like them enough to pay for them.

Yes, exactly. I think that if someone asks to use a photo for publication, but is not willing to pay for it, that they are showing that they do not respect the photographer or the image.

It is really as if they are saying, "I now there are many images out there that would be suitable for my use, but I want to get one for free, and therefore I am asking you for yours - because I would have to pay if I wanted to use one of the others I found.
