Back lit as you can image

After surveying the situation, I decided to go with the 3 x 600EX-Rts on a triple bracket with no modifier for the beach shots and just hope for the best if you will. I knew I would be getting slightly speckled suits / faces that I will do my best with in PP, but the background colours were great so I didn't want to wash them out and just expose for the faces without flash.

Lots and lots of editing to do - here are a few.

Comments appreciated.

Thanks

Paul.

This was the setup - my stand and flashes were at the back down the center.

Ran down to the beach before the guys arrived for a quick shot (just put a b&w filter on this to see how it looks)

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.

That harsh shadow right in the middle of the girl's face in #5 is not good. You should have moved her over to the shade a bit.

Good idea with your setup. It sounds like it was a tough lighting situation

I told her I was going to try for an artistic split shadow shot - it was deliberately done - lots of other properly lit shots. Might not have pulled this one off however. Appreciate the feedback.

Good job on lighting the ceremony! Most photographers would have said " screw it" and over exposed the background. Good on you for taking the extra step to do a proper job.

I like the idea of the ring shot and love the colors that are in there but I think if it was all smooth sand it wouldn't be as distracting. With the rocks in there, it makes it hard to focus on the rings, they almost get lost.

I was thinking that - appreciate the feedback - just cleaned most of it up in PS.
